Driver arrived late yersterday so I was keen to put it through its paces ...and it passed with flying colors. Found most fairways. Lovely straight driver, couldnt bend the ball at all but who can with 460CC heads anyway.

Distance wise its about 10 further than my FT3...the Reg Mitsubishi Dimana shaft feels stiffer than the NVS R did...which is useful because I'm close to needing a S anyway

looking at the club at adress there aint much difference between the Sumo and sumo2...

On mishits the sumo was excellent also.

I tested it last week in perth but there salways that slight fear that the one you get might not be exactly the same as you hit...i this case the one I have got hit better than the demo I tried last week

paid 395 on ebay (new)

Great to hear you are enjoying the new club.

So I for one would like to hear a summary of your average round. FIR, GIR, SS, U&D, Putts etc

13 seems way to high for you.

I suspect FIR is fairways in regulation, green in regulation but what is SS and U&D?

Ok I am not that long off the tee so i find most fairways. our course is kike so you dont get any roll...I use hybrids afair bit from 150 meters out to 160.

I have a reasonable short game chipping, my eakness is scoring irons of 7-pw...from 110 I will miss it long or right...its the most inconsisten part of my game. I feel more confident from 180 with a 5 wood in my hand than i do with a 7 iron...weird but true

up and downs..i dont keep stats but its an are i work on a lot...I played 18 holes the other day and 5 up and downs in one round...and the other 6 were chip and two putts. Hit the other. found 7 GIR. dont really know if thats good or bad copmapred to others.

7 GIR - so I'll assume one over for them (including one 3 putt and the rest two putts)
5 U&D - so I'll assume one over for them (assuming one stuff up)
6 chip and 2 puts - so I'll assume 7 over for them (assuming one stuff up)

Thats pretty solid. You will be of 12 next time you check.

The way he talks you'd expect him to be a solid +3 or +4 marker about to turn pro.

Hi fellas,

I'm looking at buying the Nike Sumo Driver or the superseded Sasquatch.

Can anyone who uses/or have had used this driver give me some comments about both of them.

What is the difference between the two? I'm choosing between these Nike drivers or a Titleist 905R. I have use the 905T, hits very well. Just looking to aqcuire a 460cc head driver.

Appreciate your comments...

I found the SQ with NV to be about 10 shorter than the SUMO, might have been the shaft. The SUMO had the Nike Diamana then VS Proto. Nike Diamana was a bit loose for me, but the VS proto was pure...

Both great clubs, if you can get used to the funky look.

well i used my new sumo today and was really impressed..I had tried it on a launchy and a driving range before I bought it...very easy to hit and long. I have never hit the 905R so cant comment.

It doesnt look a whole lot different to the SQ to be honest but thats not really a bad thing is it??

try before you buy, find a demo somehwere

Mine has the stock Dimana shaft and I found it the reg felt stiffer than NVS reg I had in my FT3...

It certainly sends the ball on a very penetrating ball flight. No gay fades with the sumo.

I could work the TM R7, I could work the FT3 and the hi bore...but cant work the Sumo much...was able to hit a very slight draw...after some practice with it but generally mostly straight drives which is what I want

It isn't the questions that made me say that.

Opinionated I am , but I take your point and will be mindful of that in the future when I post...thanks for the feedback, no offence taken at all!

Better update your WITB wink.gif

I have and I also have ordered the 13 deg 3 wood in sumo also...I trialed the 15 deg and it was good...I will tray and sell my 13 deg Callaway fusion

I like having the 13 degree 3 woood in the bag...great into the wind club on long par 4's and par 5's

had another hit today after work 9 holes and one thing I do like about the sumo is you can really have a goo lash at the ball, even if you diont quite get it you dont end up with nig gay fades...it will still travel ok...I only missed 1 fairway today out of 7 holes with driver and that for me is very good

I think u complement every new piece of equipment you buy to justify it or something... we're not your wife tongue.gif

It's great to see improvement and if a new driver means you now hit 7/9 fairways, great, but u say that for all the new stuff you buy so it's getting a little dry and adding no value to me when i read it - when everything seems to be the best thing since sliced bread and you now have your hands on it for a bargain price... I hope ppl don't take your findings as gospel smile.gif Think about ppl who might take your opinions and lash out on something new from the way you've described how "awesome dead straight heaps longer doesn't fade/hook/slice"...

Not an attack, just think ppl need to be aware it should be each to their own when considering new golfing equipment. *this probably stems from my dislike of the sumo coz it sounds like sh*et also* laugh.gif
