Grips!

Hi,

I'm new to the forum. Just wondering if most of the ISG forum members use standard size grips? Or do you have them "papered" out to suit your hand size.

I just got fitted out with some new irons this week (first time properly fitted - bought off the rack in the past) and the sales rep said that I would require 2 papers of thickness for a comfortable fit. I held a simulated version of the 2 paper grip, and it did feel more stable in my hands. I felt that the grip would be less likely to slip/move.

Can anyone share some information or personal experience on this topic?

Regards

just wat feels comfortable...

i have used oversized grips, but have smallish hands so i stick to regular mens

sigs are back – YAY

slightly thicker than standard...I think one or two papers

i have bigger hands and use mid-size grips. i would have had to add 7 papers or so to my regular grips, which would really effect the weight of the club. the bigger grips are much better for me.

Thanks for your feedback fellas,

To be honest with you, I had never heard of grips being "papered out" until I had my fit out for my new clubs.

However, I was aware of mid size and larger grips. I guess you learn something new every day.

I'll be picking my new irons up when they arrive in store (with the altered grips), I'll let you know about the difference they have made for me.

Regards

Rubber is more dense than paper. Your midsize grip is heavier.

But personally I'd not enjoy trying to force a grip on over 7 papers...

You don't need glue if you have compressed air. Look for a recent thread on this topic.

It really isn't to hard. If you have enough glue then it just slides right on.

How unreasonable. I hate guys like that. They are the same ones who get all snotty when you try out all their demos, pick their brains for two hours, get an informal free lesson in the process and then go buy for twenty bucks cheaper on the net.

What a pR!cK he is. cool.gif
The Bostik glue clubmakers use is not sold commercially in Oz other than from industrial chemical joints & I'm assuming you don't need a 4 litre drum. Bostik rubber cement will do the job mate.

PM - I have tonnes of the stuff... we buy it in 4L cans.

Grip Tape and Solvent is a shiteload easier. Air Compressot is easier again.
