Adams Idea irons

Hi all,

I'm new to golf (and to the forum) and wanted some advice about some clubs. I've just picked up a second-hand set of Adams Idea clubs with graphite shafts. The set has: 3 iwood 17 degrees (hybrid), 4 iwood 21 degrees (hybrid), 5 iron, 6 iron, 7 iron, 8 iron, 9 iron, PW & SW.

Any opinions on these clubs? I've had a few suggestions that I should get fitted, but I figured a reasonably priced set of second-hand clubs was a good option while I'm learning the game.

Regarding woods, I was thinking of starting off with a 3-wood and holding off on the driver until my swing has improved. Thoughts?

Cheers,

Jimbo

hi Jimbo.
I Have a set of Adams A1s nice easy to use clubs. Only used them half a dozen times but already lowered my scores from the previous clubs.
I found them to be not as long as the hype suggested. Took a few hits at the range to dial in the sweet spot. Now I have the spot I find them great. Easy to get the 5-pw in the air. The hybrids not as easy but at 17 and 21 lofts it is not easy. With me they tend to hit slightly to the right so have to take that into account.
I bought the Tom Watson wedges to go with the A1s .Also an Ovation 4 wood . That covers all my options. I use a CER 851 Driver ,but did consider the Ovation or Redline driver. I find the 460cc Driver easier to hit than a standard wood.
BTW what price did you pay.
Hope this helps.

Hi John,

Thanks for the info. I paid $300. Don't know if this is a good price or not but, as a lefty, the pickings tend to be slim in the second hand market. The clubs were what I was after so I grabbed them.

Cheers,

Jimbo

yeah they'll serve you well mate. I've found them pretty good, if you find you master them and need better clubs you'll be hitting vevy good numbers!!

hi Jimbo
at $300 I reckon they are fine. I bought mine on Ebay cost me around that price, the wedges and ovation wood were extra. I think if you can get them new in OZZ they would be around the $800-$900. They latest A2 OS are around $1200.
I'm sure they will be great for you
Cheers

its a good deal, they are so easy to hit. My beginner freind got a set with graphite shafts and they have helped him alot- hes been playing for a month now and plays pretty darn well IMO its got to do with the set.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm looking forward to getting out to the range and having a swing.

Jimbo
