Maxfli Noodle

Bought a sleeve yesterday for $10, and used one for nine holes this evening.

I'm quite impressed with the ball actually. It's a long ball for sure...I'm probably looking at a 5-10yd carry more than say an NXT distance (which is a long ball as well). It's not soft as advertised...perhaps more like a Precept Laddie.

What was equally impressive was the way the ball held its line on full shots. left/right deviation was minimal, and doesn't curve much. the ball will pitch and stop quite nicely as well. nice to putt with as well...not soft...a little firm which is good.

Jas,
I'll try and get in a full 18 holes with one and will post it in the equipment reviews when I'm done. biggrin.gif

fellas, if you're not using the ProVs, A10s, HXs etc etc...then I would suggest you give this and the Laddie a blast.
BTW, the Noodle is longer than the Laddie.

Cheers.

Thanks Mau that would be great...I am like a mangy dog with a bone about those equipment reviews...I never let go. laugh.gif

Mmm very interesting. I must get myself a sleave to test out and $10 sounds more than reasonable. I'm currently playing the Nick Tour Accuracy TW and although its the best ball I've hit to date, it simply doesnt have the durability that I'm after. I find that a solidly hit short iron in most cases, causes the ball to scuff and by the end of a round the ball is almost unplayable.

Spot on with the Noodle.
I've been working my way though a doz.
Plenty long and it sure stops ok on full approach shots.
Putts alright, only thing lacking is spin on close up
shots around the green.
Great ball at a good price.

got a question for you.
Do you find a difference in the feel of the ball after having used one ball for a couple of rounds?

Reason is becoz with these lower compression balls, one of the 'characteristics' of it (so I've been told) is that it plays differently after say 2-3 18 holes. Full shots is okay, but putting and chipping is where you would really notice the difference.

If anyone has every used an old MCLady ball, you'll prob get my drift. On full shots, still awesome, but on putting and chipping, it's like putting with a pingpong ball...it just won't go unless u smack it. with putting, the ball just seems to die off half way... :?:

anywayz, maybe it was a one off thing with the MCLadys...I've only used a Laddie for 9 holes, same for the noodle, so I havent felt the difference yet...

Appreciate ur feedback...

Only tried the MC Lady a few times and wasn't that impressed.
Haven't tried the Laddie yet either.
Maybe your onto something, the Lady's I did try were 2nd hand
so that could explain it??

What's your impression of the new Top-flite XL3000 balls??
The spin and feel models are pretty good.

The ball I'd like to try is the Dunlop Loco (low-compression) from
what I've heard it's better than the Noodles and Ladie/Laddie.
Don't think it's in Aust yet.

Hey Mau

i've tried the noodle and compared to the mc lady i think it feels alot harder both are as long.
my current ball that i'm using is the wilson TRUE distance, this ball is really really good, the tour version is slightly softer and holds the greens abit better but thats not a problem for me because of my high ball flight(i could get a rock to stop on the greens).
with regards to the mc lady playing abit unpredictable after a few rounds i your right on, it does!

dean,
I'll give the xl3000 a blast when I'm in Perth.
also will try out the new TopFlite Tour.
plus wateva catches my eye.

Hi Mau,

Have you actually seen the Top Flite Tours on sale yet. The pro at my club is a Hogan staff player and he showed me one and said he could get them for me a month ago- but I have not seen them on sale yet. i'll be interested to hear your view- would be nice to ahve a cheaper Pro V1 option.

Chris

I purchased a sleave of noodles today and was fortunate enough to give them a vigerous workout. My first impressions were that the ball was simply too hard and I wasn't able to generate enough spin around the greens and subsequently I was finding that I was rolling off the back of a lot greens. Having said that, I must admit that the noodles do travel a hell of a long way. Anyhow I shal continue on my merry way to find a perfectly constructed ball.
