Been away far too long, what's good to go nowadays? The last couple of years in my rare forays i have been using Taylormade TP tours, which i got for free and find an awesome ball. I go for the compromise balls and find these give me both excellent distance and spin, likely the best i have used. My swing speed is only about 90MPH. Other balls i have liked a lot are the Precept EV and it's similars and the old Maxfli CD. I see many in here are getting their balls on ebay and i will be the same i think. Any idea's on other balls similar to the above? Nike, Callaway?

at that swing speed, i'd be looking at something with a softer core. Help you compress the ball a bit more.

Srixon Z-URC - tour level ball with softer core.
Srixon AD333 or Soft Feel
Callaway Big Bertha or HX Red/Blue
Maxfli Noodle
Precept Laddie

If your after a spinnie ball, Z-URC or HX Blue

sigs are back – YAY

Thanks heaps Grumpy. I'll check out the spinny balls pronto.

Just nabbed some AA Strata Aces for starters.

The laddie works great for me being off about med teens, it and noodle are by far as good as NXT, HX's etc and cheaper in my opinion.

Also 5 dozen for about $100 on ebay.

Cheers

for 90 mph swinger Callaway hX hots are great and srixon AD 333..both classed as distances balls but both have good feel (in my view)...Laddies by precept are good also...

Thanks for the additions guys, man i have gone thru some posts and reviews today lol

Precept Laddie is really nice... not that I have tried a lot of other brands. For me, the most important part is it must feel good off the putter face.

I am a big fan of the Maxfli A10, was using them a few years ago and paying about $80 a box. Almart all sports have old stock for $29 a box. cant go wrong there.

Precept Laddie and Pinnacle Exception are good medium price balls for me. Titleist ProV1 and V1x are outstanding balls but the price can be offputting, especially if you lose one during a round.

I read in the Golf Digest Hot list '07 that the Z-URC was for 100 mph+ swings?

Was keen to try them until I read that. Can you confirm or deny that?

You could also try this site to give you an idea of how balls are ranked.

Just lookee HERE guys

JT,

I regularly use the Pro v1's and HX's but i tried the Taylor Made TP black on the weekend. These are an excellent ball. Good distance and plenty of check around the greens. Also tried the TP red but preferred the black.

Yeah these are on my very very short list, and thanks for the info on amart, i'll go there pronto.

Yeah it's just too much money. Have you tried picking them up AAA from ebay? Still more love for the Laddie!

I am betting these blacks are a similar ball to my beloved TP Tours of which i have about 5 left. Another goodie to try.

Thanks to guys for the test reports, it certainly helps. Another reasonable area is the Golf Digest hot lists, they have archives for the lasat few years lists too. I think it was 2004 when they had some quite complete write ups on each ball.

Damn, my local amart didn't have em but i bought a box of Laddie Xtremes for $19.95. I have some AA Tour Ace Strata's on the way as well as some AA HX Blues coming. I am also dwelving for 50 mixed Strata's. I may as well stockpile some ammo as i'm keen again and one can never have too many pills, especially at these prices. I'll be more than happy if the Laddie works as well for me as others here, what unbelievable value if so.

7 consecutive posts - is that a new record??
