I have been reading some pretty glowing reviews about the Cleveland HiBore. I am at the moment in the market looking for a new driver. I currently use the Wilson Deep Red 400cc with a 9.5° loft with a Regular Flex Grafalloy Thick Shaft.
I tried the: I'm swinging at about 90mph. I would be interested in the thoughts of the golfing community out there in terms of their experiences (especially with the HIBORE). WHile this retails for about $400 at Drummond Golf eBay has brand new ones for around $250. Thanks in advance...

The theory behind the HiBore is sound. The deeper and lower COG increases the clubheads's MOI and produces higher launch and lower spin. The result should be longer drives. That said, I have never hit one and so have no experience with them. But, as far as irregular shaped drivers go, they look quite good IMO. Mick

I had a hit of one and loved it.

I tried one and yep it was straight...I tried the FT3 Callaway X, Hi Bore Nike SQ, Cleveland launcher Ti Wilson DD6 Titleist 905R TM R7 425, TM r5 ..and a few others ...all about 3 months ago...they were all good...
longest was SQ...straightest was Hi-bore...so why did I go for
FT3...well it was the best driver when I didnt quite middle
it..it was also the quietest driver..I dont like booming noise
coming from the club The FT3 didnt go as high as the others also...I play on windy links course where a lower penertrating ball flight is for me... ebay beware..I did see a few hi bores on ebay that looked different from the others...check it out first

I put one in the bag last week and this thing is easily the best driver I've hit. I've got a 10.5 with the stock stiff shaft. It's probably 5-10 metres longer than my R5 in 9.5 with a Fuji Vista shaft (stiff) and more forgiving. I also have an XR03 in 9.5 which I've used for most of the last 2 years and it gets out there and is very forgiving, but the HiBORE has a much better trajectory and I would say is even more forgiving. The main thing for me is the way it looks. I really like the shallower face compared with the TM drivers. I always struggle to make consistent vertical contact with the deep face drivers and can tee the HiBORE a little lower which leads to me making better contact more often. For looks it fits in well with my VSteel fairways.

I found the nike SQ was like that too...it had slightly lower profile and I was able to tee it slightly lower and yes it was the longest I hit my advice for a mid to high handicappers is look at where the shots go when you Dont middle one...its easy to buy one where you crushed 3 balls right out of the middle but sometimes that driver might not be as good in off centre hits...its why I went FT3 from cally because in off centre hits it still went a good distance and accuracy. Mid to high handicappers are not going to find the middle everytime

You should also test back to back with your current driver so that you can tell if it's the club or whether you are just having a good/bad day. I know that when I tested the HiBORE I was actually flushing everything and there was not much between it and my existing driver. My decision was based mainly on how it felt and looked and how the slight mishits performed, which was basically not that much different to shots out of the sweet spot.

Gday I put a HiBore in my bag about 2 months ago now with a regular fuji shaft and 10.5 loft My previous driver was a 983K, compared to the new HiBore the Titleist isnt anything compared, the HiBore is spooky long and very straight. It does launch the ball quite high but I needed to anyways to get more distance as a few people do. I actually like the shape of it compared to the normal driver shape, sits very nice behind the ball If you can pick one up for that price I suggest buy it! Go for an Aldila NV, Proforce V2 or Grafalloy shaft as I reckon there a bit better than the standard Fuji

It says item location of Cairns, yet it says he's a member in the UK. As I'm a little inexperienced in the field of eBay, I'd want to make sure the item is actually in Australia so you dont get stuck with custom fees or other crap like that.

it said he accepts returns also 99.7 positive feedback also

6 pieces of feedback either saying his gear is fake or not what was described...also 3 name changes this year alone AVOID

I have had a 9.5° HiBore with stock Fuji stiff shaft in the
bag for a couple of months now and it has been great. As Vman can
confirm from the ISG Day at Torquay, it likes to go straight
I am not mad keen on the sound of the head, but I can live wth it when the results are so good. I can still slice or hook it with the best of them, but a reasonable swing produces very pleasing results. I have got a Taylormade R580 and a Titleist 983K sitting in the garage and they will be staying there for sometime at this rate. The HiBore driver definately gets a "Bang" from me, and I am seriously considering the 3 wood.

I'm going to go against the trend here. My gamer was a Bridgey J33R 420 9.5°. I got a 9.5° Hi bore head and shafted with a V2, the same shaft as in the bridgey. The hi bore was no match for the Bridgey. On any comparison the bridgey was always far ahead especially considering my inconsistent swing. I have heard enough good reports to know that the club works for some people just not me.

I have had a hibore in the bag with stock fuji shaft for 3-4 months now fairway stats have gone thru the roof now at 78% earlier in the year was around 62%. It took a little while to really hit it with the shape and height I wanted, but accuracy is this club's strongpoint although I haven't found another driver which carries it further. The only thing I don't like is that mishit's lose a fair bit for me even though their website suggests otherwise, but all in all the best driver I have owned and won't be getting rid of it anytime soon.

Hi everybody, just thought id close the loop on this one. I did brave the world of eBay & bid for one. Actually landed a deal of $185+postage ($215 delivered). Got delivered in 7 days. Perfect condition. Must say the seller was very helpful. I made a slight error in bidding & bid for one with a 10.5 stiff shaft. On request, he actually shipped one with a 9.5 reg. I was amazed. Whether it is a fake or not, I cant tell the difference. I took mine to the drummond Golf & compared mine with what they have in the store. The finish etc. etc is all identical. Now for the real stuff... This one is definitely long. On a hole where I would usually be about 50 m short if I had hit my 400cc Deep Red pure... this one left me with a 5m chip onto the green. Thats long. I am still getting used to the club. I have gained atleast a good 25 to 30m on my Wilson. earlier, I would drop at around 200m & roll. Now first drop is arund 225 and rolls even further.
The funny thing is, last week I was at the MGA on one of their
Demo days. The usual suspects were there, TM, Miz, Clev, Calwy,
Srix, Bridgy & Ping. They had the R7, G5, FT3 etc etc
etc... I got in there, picked up a HiBORE & slammed it 250. Didnt take long to fill that bay up soon after! I must say though that the R7 & the G5 also had a fantastic feel when u hit them. Howevere, at $600 a pop compared to what I got for $215...no arguments there!! Thanks for all your replies.

$215, jesus christ almighty that's cheap. Is it brand new, demo or second hand? What shaft? If I could pick one up for $215 (with a V2) I'd actually buy one, I couldnt be unhappy getting that much of a bargain.

Really?

HiBORE and V2 is a good combo for most people. As far as perfomance is concerned, it'll get out there with low spin and as you've already heard...very straight. If the V2 lacks feel for you (as most say it does) then maybe a Graman limey, that also seems to work very well in that head (DISCLAIMER: haven't hit it myself though). There is too much negative commentary on this head. Many people wind up saying "it's straight but short". I think it's just a hard head to fit, if you get the right shaft, it will not only be straighter than just about anything else, it will be long as well.
|
|
There is nothing wrong in any way with the hi-bore and it is the
most consistantly straight driver i've hit.
|
|
Strange you say that. Would'nt a 250m be a 250m anywhere in any sort of Driving Range? Or are you saying its good coz MGA is flat instead of the usual downhill ranges elsewhere.
|
|
As you stated you were carrying the hibore 225m on course, I would expect maybe 20m run depending on the course you play at, so say you are averaging 245m, yet somehow hit it 250m at M.G.A with substandard golf balls seems unusual to say the least.
Unless of course you use M.G.A range balls on course as well, now
that would explain it
|
|
nothing unusual about a 20 handicapper hitting it 270-280
