Blade putters.

I'm looking for a blade style putter (a cheap one) to try out as I have have had a tap of one and I seemed to like it quite a lot, so It has now put me in the search of a cheap one. And where to find one, as every shop I have looked in has either not had one, or it has been a left handed model.

Pictures just so you know (if you dont know (you know?)laugh.gif ) what I'm talking about.

Cleveland 'Designed By's pop up pretty cheap all the time, and they're nice putters. I've seen some older Wilson 8802's go pretty cheap too. Even the new Wilson Staff 8802's are about $150 new, so they're worth a look too.

Where are you located?

i've got a Yes! Sophia thanks to Virge666 that is great to putt with. was previously using a Cleveland 'Designed By' but prefer the Sophia much more. Less offset and a smoother feel.

might be looking to sell the Cleveland...i've got too many putter. Never use the Cleveland cause i've got the Yes!...my Scotty is my backup putter now anyway

BTW: what that black one you have a picture of...looks good like that

Just get a Wilson 8802 - the original and best.

I put with a very old and crappy Old Master putter I bought from the bargain barrel at the Malvern House of Golf for $9 (the new grip I put on it cost more than the putter did). I've thought about changing but they just keep going in the hole laugh.gif

In my youth I used an 8802 for years. Great putters, although I putted like a spaz back then.

I've got a G2 Tess like the one in your pic sitting in the garage. I love the look of it and hole everything in the hallway, but I just can't bring myself to take the ugly knockoff branding iron out of the bag yet.

That top pic is a limited edition Scotty Cameron Napa Valley 2006. Will set you back about $600US. It is one sexy blade though.

i have a Cleveland Designed by CMM model you can have for $120.

Edit: its brand new btw - there is a sale thread somewhere in the classifieds.

Another vote for the Tess - I have always been a big fan of the blade putter, I find the anser style putters are harder to line up right

Jack - Isn't the 'Acushnet Bulls Eye' the original and the best?

That's what I use. I may need a re-grip though, the black shiny slippery handle has probably had its day.

Bobs shed on Maroondah hwy, Ringwood had Palmer blade putters for $50 to $100 ( they're as close a copy of the 8802 or Ram blade that I've seen.)
Jon... wink.gif

This is the topic for me cause i'm in and have been in a search for while. Names that have come up, Cleveland designed, Mizuno have a couple (TP Series I believe) and the Wilson 8802 is what i've come across. Yet to try any but am on the look out. Wilson is the one people talk about when you mention blades.

they were the original from memory...

there are a couple more to try...

Yes! Sophia...fantastic, used to have a Cleveland Designed By...love the look of this as it has less offset...

Scotty Cameron Napa - expensive...

Ebay is your friend

Ebay is your friend

That one is an absolute cracker of an example (especially at that latest bid price ohmy.gif )

Most of the 8802's on eBay offer of late have been showing the effects of club chatter and are covered in marks.

If I wasn't a loyal mallet putter...

Beware of cheap imitations - Especially from the US

The amount of "RARE" stuff on eBay is just incredible. rolleyes.gif
