Hi All,

My trusty old push cart has finally given up after several years of service... Am in the market for something decent, and have settled on either the Brosnan Shuttle-X or Bag Boy Smoothy... Have been reading up on the BBs, but couldn't find any comments on these... Any info would be great...

Cheers!

Shuttle-X Buggy

Got one of these (black one) - I think it is sensational but I cop a bit of sh1t because a couple of mates reckon it looks like I am pushing a wheelchair.

With the slightly bigger than average wheels it rolls over the ground very well.

Lol at the wheelchair comparison...

How's the quality...? My concern was the plastic lock that connects the handle to the frame...?

I have had mine for over a year now and the mechanism still looks and works like new. So does the buggy come to think of it. Other than the opening/closing to set up and take down the buggy there is no real physical stress exerted on the locking mechanism during use.

I got sick of buying el cheapo buggies that didn't last so a mate of mine (runs a golf shop) sold me one of these. It is the best buggy that I have ever used.

Surprised that I got no sh1t hung on it at the BvS day last week rolleyes.gif

Hi Diddy,
I bought a black Brosnan x-type shuttle when I upgraded my irons and bag a few months ago. I have a 10.5 inch Callaway HX Tour staff bag and I was concerned in finding a buggy that could fit this monster bag. NO problem with the x-type.

With my old buggy I was sick of lifting up the seat and pulling it back to access my back pockets of the bag, another concern with a new buggy. The x-type solves this problem as it is completely out of the way.
The spring loaded seat is great idea too. It's very comfortable when I sit down and lean my back into my bag smile.gif

The plastic lock that connects the handle to the frame is fine. It has a few plastic teeth I think but no major wear and tear as of yet. The plastic teeth are only used when packing and unpacking the cart.

My old cart is a pull-along and it was a habit after about 8 years. I tried pulling the x-type but found I had to lower the lock mechanism you were talking about to do this. Eventually, over a period of time, I now have it slightly more upright and push it now. This is probably the biggest change I have found in the x-type relative to my old pull along cart.

The 3 spoked wheels are awesome. I like metal spokes. Oh and I'd spend that bit more on this one than the CRAPOLA Proline one that has those plastic cheap and nasty looking rims. EWWWWW, they look SH!TE

Still no visible signs of rust on the metal spoke areas as of yet. I have taken it out in the rain a few times.

Yeh, I've had the comment "You could double that up as a pram" smile.gif
Another comment was "Rolls Royce of buggies".
My 2 mates that have the Proline sh!te buggies "we bought the cheaper version" There is no comparison and I'll say it again, spend the extra bucks and get this one. You won't regret it. And if you do, I'll complain to Brosnan on your behalf tongue.gif

I haven't seen the bagboy Smoothy so I can't comment on that. Oh, I just checked it out on the web. I would choose the x-type over the smoothy simply because of the access to your rear pockets on your bag. I am so OVER lifting up the seat and pushing it back sad.gif MAJOR reason why I chose the x-type.

The park brake to lock your wheel is a good idea. I have used it maybe 3 times in a few months. I'm just lazy so I just park my buggy on a flat bit of ground ... OH DER!!!!! nuff said.

I saw x-type in Perth Rebel Sports $249. Perth Golfbox online member price $228 confirmed.
http://shop.golfbox.com.au/...=BROSNAN

I got mine for $175 but only because I spent $1320 on x-18s and $400 on the bag at Collier Park in Perth.

I agree with Fyirippu, get the black one if you have a choice. I wanted a yellow one but upon closer inspection it wasn't shiney enough for me LOL biggrin.gif

Hope I've been helpful Diddy smile.gif
If you have any questions or queries or just reckon I'm full of sh!t, just let me know wink.gif

You have to push. Set the handle at the right height and you can push it with your guts as you walk

I hope Brosnan have improved the metal over what they used in the original yellow Shuttle. I had one of these (the "deluxe" model with larger wheels and a handbrake), cost about $190. There is a wire going across to stop the legs from spreading beyond a certain point. This wire is held on to each leg by a bolt. On mine, the metal fractured either side of the bolt hole in just over twelve months. When this happens the buggy just collapses. Two other people at my club had the same problem with the "standard" model. The metal is very brittle. And it's also a pain when some kind soul tries to move your buggy without realising the brake is on and wrecks the whole mechanism, which is only a small rod that pushes in between plastic flanges.

I've since got a cheaper Bag Boy GT500 (no seat), which I've used for two years. Cost abpout $140. The metal is a much better aluminium of some sort, and I've had no breakages. The foot brake gets clogged up pretty easily and won't release, so I just don't put it on.

You might be on a different model buggy publish as this one does not spread. It folds

I realise that. My comment was meant to point to a potential problem with Brosnans ... the metal in previous versions was brittle. I hope the Shuttle-X is better.

Never had the same problem with a Bag Boy.

Great buggy, although I wouldnt mind if it had suspension.

Shuttle-X Buggy

That's fancier than my car.
Buggy-wise, I still use a Pilgrim that's at least 25 years old. Gone through 2 sets of tyres and they are down to the cords again.

It is pretty fancy, but was honestly bought out of necessity more than anything... I used to have a standard colapsable buggy with plastic wheels but due to a combination of the weight of my bag and the design, the plastic wheel kept breaking... After replacing a few at $15-$20 a pop, it started to become a bit ridiculous, so I bit the bullet and bought something that will hopefully last a lot longer...

Isn't this buggy overly large? I went and took a look for a new buggy the other week and this thing just seemed huge. How do you find it without the suspension as the Smoothy buggies are about the same price?

I suppose it's a bit larger than other buggies on the martket. For me, I didn't like the fact that the Bagboy seat placed all the load onto the suspension mechanism. The Shuttle-X seat has a base that takes the load off the buggy frame...

Has anyone seen the new Shuttle that the earlier poster said was coming out this month ?

Hey Doug,

New buggy is a suped up version of the X-Type. It has an added suspension system on all 3 wheels. Also has a cool pack for drinks, a rain cover for your bag and underneath tray for other gear. Buggy is called "Wallabuggy - Black"

Cheers
Edmo
