Someone with a classic case of 'optimism getting in the way ofOh, reality' has decided, in their infinite wisdom, to bring back the pod updated to 2006 specs. unsure.gif

What drugs are they on at that joint CRACK!!! ohmy.gif

The Carizma (pardon me whilst I vomit) Power Pod Ti.

Funnily enough they claim 2 things which are laughable.

1. It's a new concept laugh.gif

2. It's been a huge success since it launched laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

But for your enjoyment, and yes you can 'Buy it now' for US$108, here it is.

Enjoy

don't pretend there isn't one in your lounge room laugh.gif

it just gets lost among the putters

Moe, even Ho's need to have SOME self respect.

A guy I used to play golf with many, many years ago had a Pod, in fact he had about 6, they kept breaking. It was as ugly as sin but boy did he hit that thing well.

What the hell is that piece of sh**!!!!!!!!!!!!!

were obviously to young to know what that monstrosity is...let the oldies reminisce about this fossil club

sigs are back – YAY

doesnt look any different at all to the original

For further information, send me a PM?

That's a classic, it doesn't even look to be a redesign of the original, it

IS

the original with a bit of extra writing on it. I remember trying one of these 20 years ago and working out that if I was ever going to play a hole shaped exactly like a horse racing track going counterclockwise it'd be an absolute must have in the bag.

And I liked the "positive" bit of feedback from a happy/gullible punter at the bottom of the auction,

"shipped just in time for me to shot a 108...before the club I was scoring 120"

Ahhh, I remember the original, interesting design pity it is such a POS... tongue.gif

ive got a mate that had one and he got the nickname "pod" to this day a good 10 yrs on that nickname has stuck . good to see something good come out of the product

it looks like a brake light off a trailer... blink.gif

Hehe what an ugly looking driver. And it's setup for a draw - one heck of a hook maybe.
Is it even legal?

If it doesn't help your game, you could sing karaoke into it afterwards.

Were they around in the mid 70's? I remember a bloke I knew had some weird club then but I've no idea of it's name.

I think they came out in the mid 80's from memory.

exactly the same, like they took the ones that didn't sell and engraved the new names in the rear of it ????

I hit one, and I think it was about 22 or 23 years ago.

I played at a little country course called Murwillumbah last year and there was an old bloke using one. I don't think he had bought a new 2006 version off the shelf..it was still in use from the 70's.

I was working in a pro shop at the time these things came out so it has to be somewhere between about 1985 and 1988 give or take a year. I remember that at the time they came out they were on a TV show, it was Beyond 2000 or A Current Affair from memory and we had LOTS of enquiries and sold quite a few of them over the following few weeks and then nothing, they just died. Price was around the $200+ mark way back then.

I remember a similar thing happening with the old Dunlop DDH golf ball, they were on a TV show and we immediately began selling gazillions of them, difference was they kept on selling like hotcakes for years.

The biggest problem with the Pod apparently was that the material technology wasn't quite up to it and they had a lot of failures. With todays technology they would be more feasible.

If I remember a magazine article from about 1991 or 1992 correctly, didn't the same bloke that "invented" the Stronomic insert that started off the Odyssey Putter company have a hand in the design of the Pod? I think he was also involved in the Basakwerd putter and started a little shaft company called Aldila.

I played with a guy in 1992 who had one of those. It was fairly new then, so they must have come out not long before. Very much and anti-slice clusb. Same vintage, but just as cool was the Wilson Ultra-Mid driver. It looked like wax/plastic. Have a feeling John Daly used one at some point...

DEfinitely an 80s thing for mine...I have some (valgue) recollection of a newspaper article with Ossie Moore from that time talking about their virtues...seem to remember some sort of money back guarantee if you could slice the ball using the pod...

Whats the POD????????????????
