Does anybody know anything about the re-Ax shaft in the r7 425?? I can't get any info about the shaft on the TM website appart from their marketing bulls#%t and I am looking for a high launch shaft with a medium tip and average torque. Can it be compared to the NV, YS6, prolaunch?? Can it be changed when ordering?? Thanks in advance!!

Its on the Fujikura website in the Fit-on-M section.

Thanks PT. The TP version is a higher launch shaft suited for slower swing speeds (higher torque) that the standard r7 version, whle the TP is for better players... does this sound confusing for anyone else?? Shouldn't it be the other way around??

The TP is high launch for faster tempo swingers. While the REAX is mid launch for medium tempo swingers. Thats how I interpret it

If you play off 16 how is it going to matter?

Since when is handicap a judge of how they hit a driver?

TM now have two stock shafts, the Re*Ax and the Re*Ax Rombax. Both are based on Fujikura shafts. The Re*Ax is the shaft for normal R7 425s and R7 460s and the Rombax version is exclusive to the TP heads. Both shafts are based on Fujikura's TriAx technology as made famous by the Speeder shafts, especially the 757. They use multiple layers and materials to tweak the shaft to how they wish it to play. So you could consider the Re*Ax shaft to be a much cheaper Speeder. They are not like the 757 (tip stiff, high bend, low launch and spin) but use the same technology to keep them stable. They are soft to medium tip, low to mid bend point, and medium to high spin. Much like a Prolaunch. The Rombax is a different beast. It is officially a Re*Ax shaft with Rombax technology. This technology invloves layers of boron (from memory) between layers of graphite or some such nonsense, but the shaft itself is designed to go against the new Diamanas and Oziks. It is high launch and low spin. High launch and low spin is the new mantra, but (much like a Pro V1) really only applies to those who swing fast. If you don't have a swing speed over 105, your ball will drop out of the sky in a most disappointing fashion. So, in summary, the Re*Ax shaft is best described as a variant of a Prolaunch, which is a compliment. The Rombax fills the role of the Diamana and 757 that TM used to use in their TP clubs, but which is more forgiving. It is notably higher launch than the Diamana, and a bit more than the 757. The biggest problem is that the graphics on it are so ugly. Cheers Steve

I think it has alot to do with it! I currently have a 905T and initially bought it with a Speeder and was having alot of trouble - I must add it was after the advice of a fitter @ a national chain of golf stores with a launch monitor. Anyway I sold it and bought the same club with a YS6 and it has made alot of differnece. Less diepersion, higher launch and trajectory, and even though there isn't a noticable difference to carry I'm hitting the fairway more often. Anyway I tried the TM r7 425 today and I just found the closed face so hard to align compared to my 905T. I was hitting draws and fades (with the weights set for a straight shot). It sounded great off the face, but too much dispersion.
I'm sticking with the 905!
