Can someone please offer some advice.I have had a set of OS2
RAC's for about 6 or 7 months.I find them to be somewhere
between 1 to 2 clubs shorter in distance top my previous
set..(Wilson Fatshafts). The ball flight is also extremely
high. They are fitted with ® T Step Ultralite shafts
(steel). Look forward to any advice.. cheers

I'm guessing the fatshafts were stiffer? Go and see a clubfitter and get some advice from them, they can then see your swing first hand and maybe put you on a launch monitor to make sure you get the right shafts to suit your game.

I have the same OS2 with the same shaft (mine reg) and with the same EXTRA high launch. I was told the OS head was design to give extra lift. I tested a Bridgestone 5 blade with Dynamic Gold R300. Superb distance (extra 10m easy) and very nice launch IMO. Not sure if changing shaft will help to counter the OS head design. Let me know how you go with the new shaft.. gd luck.

Going with something stiffer will bring the ballflight down somewhat, but the whole idea of the RAC OS irons is to help get the ball in the air for golfers that struggle to get the ball in the air. I guess it is all a part of getting the clubs fitted to you, you choose a head to suit your ballflight, I know I would struggle with a head like that but I hit my blades very well because they suit me better. Maybe getting the lofts strengthened would be an option, but best to get a club fitter to sort you out before you mess with too much.

Thanks for your advice..I was fitted up for them by Drummond Golf
and had all the lies and lofts to suit also.

There is the problem. The lowest launching shaft about would be the dynamic gold. If you still launch it too high, then look at changing the loft angles. Better still, look at upgrading to a set of irons with lower launch characteristics. Mick

I suggest you looke someone up who is more of a specialist when it comes to clubfitting, if you post some details as to your location I'm sure someone can point you in the right direction. You should be able to have your current clubs adjusted to suit, if not the clubfitter should be able to reccomend you some new clubs. Personally, I think having clubs customised and built by a professional club fitter is better than trading yor set in on something that is ordered from a factory that will have less attention to detail put to it than will a set made by a good clubfitter. I have made the mistake in the past ordering clubs directly from a manufacturer and ordering different specs to stock without being able to hit them on a course and found that it was money not well spent. I think that a lot of fitting through retail stores is VERY badly flawed, I was once "fitted" into an R7 TP 10.5 with a REGULAR Fuji six shaft, now just to shed some light on why this was a poor fit for me I swing the club arround 120mph with the driver and I have a short quick swing the club when I took it out on the course was shorter than my 3 wood... needless to say I told them so stick it fair where the sun doesn't shine! I think I could have saved $5000 or more if I had of been fitted properly a couple of years ago. Look at getting fitted PROPERLY as an investment for the future!

I don't know if he is in your area or not but a bloke named Chris Murchie is meant to be one of the best in the country and based in NSW. From what I am told it is worth the travel to see him.

[Ok, thanks for all your help...I managed to get the loft and lies check by the pro at my local club and they are what was ordered..but we did decided to lengthen the shafts by 1 inch and regrip them..After only two games the results were immediate..Ist game..36pts...2nd game...36pts..then on the third...42pts with a hole in one!!!.. 135m par three at Riverlands..11th hole...with a 15ft screw back...gotta love it!!... Thanks again...Lowie

Do the lofts for each club equate, as some manufacturer's #5 may be stronger or weaker than another manufacturers.
'As in Life |

each model of club may be weaker or stronger that other models. manufactureres do not set standards themselves so a TP 5 iron i will be different to a R7CGB 5 iron... then again...tolerance levels are that... manufacturers same model same year club maybe different...

have you tried comparing your RAC OS to the RAC LT (shaft equivalent) also remember that no technology can replace watching the ball in flight
|
|
I agree. As a 24 marker I play the RAC OS2 and they are great. Easily a club longer than my previous set and they run quite strong lofts (PW is 45). As a 15 handicapper you should have been directed to the LT. This has a lower ball flight than the OS2. I'd take them back to Drummonds and demand a refit as they have quite clerly got it wrong.

|
They are longer because of the lofts, thats it.
