Hi Trav,go see a club fitter and get some good advice.
Some of the people using launch-monitors are just salespeople.

how much does it cost to use a launch monitor???? is it fairly pricey?? also what is the average price for a good driver shaft

Launch monitor use depends if it is a sles person or a true fitter.

Can be anything from free (as long as you make a purchase) to $75.

Shafts range from $60ish to $400, most are around $180 from memory though.

down and out…did ya get that?

At 13th Beacdh on Sat, Titleist & Cobra demo day, the fitter had good knowledge, had an excellent range of shafts, my mate hits an R7 - but after warming up, was able to find a shaft that gave him the best ball flight, distance & allowance for target, becuase he only plays 2-3 times per month, so on the first few holes, it will prevent the srapy factor & he better undestood it (has played off 6-8 for years). So, the shaft he wanted was expensive - a speeder - so, he is off to Sanctuary lakes to get a cheaper shaft with similar characteristics fitted to R7.

Important to hit 15 or 15 drives before you find you correct swing speed, etc - We ended up changing what appeared to be the right shaft for me after the first 3-8 shots, to a much different shaft, that once warmed up had awesome ball flight - but I then also found out where the misses would go if I raced on the first tee without a warm up - often the case.

So - Look out for a Demo day near you - check big brand Aussie websites, or ask a local pro when the next demo days are - this guy said he was there to promote titleist & Cobra, NOT SELL them, so he was happy to give us one of the 200 possible combinations of shaft & loft, we just wrote it down, & can now get the correct shaft fitted to our Drivers, for best performance out of the old & weary bodies.

i meant a club fitter...

most salespeople who are not fitters will not have a range of shafts available to try cept flex...

weights, tips and such are very important in finding the best shaft

Some unscrupulous salespeople and fitters will push the altitude up to 6000 ft above sea level!
This gives an instant 15 to 30 metre increase in distance.
Just remember you are dealing with a computer,it can be made to do what ever they want.

Where would you suggest the best place around is to get fitted?where I would'nt be hitting on a bumped up launch monitor?
