Woods shaft weight transition

Is it a normal 10g transition between a set of woods?.

Ie... regular shaft driver/3wood/5wood is 55g, 65g and 75g.
stiff shaft goes from 65g,75g,85g?

I know there's always the exception but is that a general guide?

First time I've heard of any thought around relative shaft weights increasing as the lofts get weaker in woods...although I do see what I think your getting at with shaft weights increasing to make up for the weight reduction in the heads (a lot of off the shelf dirvers and FWs seem to come this way from the factory with the weight transitions you state).

I play a 78 gram shaft in my driver and 70 gram shafts in my fairways...but I have played shaft weights as high as 100 grams in my fairways whilst playing a 78 gram driver shaft.

Blighty, so which way does it feel more natural between driver and 3 wood? A lighter shafted 3 wood or a heavier shafted 3 wood (compared to your driver shaft).

Seems to be the consensus to have a heavier shaft for your FW than in the driver (to make up for the lighter head)...but like I said above, I've been all over the place on this one.

The Aldila NV 65 seems to be a very popular shaft in retail drivers at the moment, with the NV 75 being put in the same manufacturers' matching FWs (Ping G5, Titliest, Bridgestone are good examples of this)...so that seems to be the more natural occurance.

Hi,wouldn't that change the flow of the swing weighting thru the woods?
