Driver: Callaway FT3 Tour 9.5° NVS65 stiff - The longest driver i've ever tried, it just goes for forever even into the wind (which is great, no ballooning up)

3 wood not in use at the moment

Utility: Adams pro hybrid 2-iron - can hit it high and low great club, very versatile

Irons: Callaway X Tours 3-pw S300 - Got these only last week, completely out of this World. Better than expected by far.

Wedges: Cleveland 900 50° & 54° LB, Cleveland cg10 BP 60° SB - very high spin clubs great for those tight pins

Putter - well me and my two-ball had a falling out not so long ago and it had a nasty accident with my knee, say no more. I'm currently use the rossie 2. Also in reserve is a ping answer 29''

Ball - anything thats round lately

Great topic - gives insight into what we are all thinking about when setting up the bag for play...

Driver: TM R510TP 9.5 deg - Grafalloy Blue Pro Launch X (84g) 44.5Inch. Wow, I never hit a driver as well as this - long and high with a slight draw. Thanks to Advantage Custom for setting up the shaft to my specs

4 Wood: Titleist 904F 17 deg - Fujikura 757 Speeder S Fairway. The best fairway wood I've hit for a long time. Looks great behing the ball and easy to hit off the tee and fairway

Hybrid: Nickent 3dx Ironwood 17deg - UST S. A great club from about 220m and stops on a green much better than the 4w

Irons: 3-PW Mizuno MP-30 - DGS300. Lie angles 1deg flat and all lofts have been reset to weak (PW is 48deg). Still deciding whether I really love these or not but they look so good behind the ball. The ball flight is a little higher than my last set (Srixon Pro 100) but the distance is similar and they are a little more forgiving.

Wedges: 54/10 and 58/8 Vokey Oil Can. Great feel around the greens with these and once again they look great behind the ball

Putter: Odyssey 2 ball Standard White Hot - soft feel and very easy to line up. Until this putter I was seriosly looking at something a little longer...

Reserves - A garage full of them:
983K 9.5deg with Fujikura Speeder X
904F 15deg 3W with Fujikura Speeder S Fairway
Titleist DCI 1iron with Rifle Project X 6.5
Srixon Pro 100 Blades -3-SW with Rifle 6.0
Nickent Oxytrak 60/8 Lob Wedge
Ping Anser
Odyssey Rossie 2 Mallet

Driver: TM R7 Quad 9.5 with Fuji Speeder 757X - Hell of a club and for a few months I struggled with it. The shaft is probably too stiff for me, but I now have a dependable shot shape and lots of distance.

3 Wood: Sonartec NP-99 14 with Adila NV 75X - Outrageous club. Not sure why I didn't gel with 3-woods before, but this one (newest club in the bag) is fast becoming a fav.

Hyrbids: Sonartec MD 17 and 21 with iRodX - My goto clubs under pressure. Lovely ball flight, controlled landing and straight as an arrow.

Irons: Mizuno Mp30 4-PW with DGS300 - Dropped the 3i because of inconsistent flight, the 4i is solid for me. These clubs were a stretch when I got them, but have grown confident with them now. Feel and control with short irons is divine.

Wedges: Cleveland 56 HB and 60 LB - The first two new clubs I bought when getting back into golf.

Putter: Yes! TraceyII - Gave me the best roll of the putters I tried and I like how you can easily feel off-centre putts, even though they still roll ok.

Future Changes: I can see myself going for a different wedge set, maybe a 54/14 and 58/8. I dropped the gap wedge to make room for the 3 Wood, but and finding there is too much between the PW and SW. Also, sometime next year I will probably opt for an easier to hit driver.

Currently:
Driver
TM R580 9.5° Fuji Speeder Stiff - It has been set up for me with a D4 swing weight. I've tried the Adams 430 Quad with a Fuji R shaft and it is the best I've ever played. It is the same distance as the R580 but is easier to centre hit. Will eventually get that when the price comes down.

Fairway
3W - Titleist 980F 13° with Maltby S. Used to have a DGS300, but the Guru changed the shaft for me and it has been great. The stronger loft encourages more roll to get me onto some of the Par 5s that I play regularly.

5W - Nike T40 19° with stock R shaft. Great fairway and I use this to drive on the shorter Par 4s. It seems a little closed, but it is more likely my swing that cause me to hook this club regularly.

Irons
Srixon Pro100 3-SW with Rifle 5.0s. These are good looking and seem reasonably forgiving for blades. I seldom use the 3i but regularly use the 4-SW.

Wedges
Nike 53° Rifle 6.0 shafts. I like the rusted look. I also have the 60° but can't fit it in my bag. I might drop the 3i and give the 60° a go as well. I won't drop the Pro100 SW until I get better at bunkers. Recently shown some techniques from Virge which seem very effective and I have been practising with the SW which is about a 58°. I thought it was 56° but was recently corrected.

Putter
Titleist BullsEye

Other
I have some spares that I occasionally use:
Mizuno HiFli 18° with DGS300. It is very good but the Nike 5W is working for me at the moment.

Irons
Nike ProCombos 2004 model with Rifle Tour Flighted 6.0 2-PW. I like these clubs as they look very similar to my blades. However, the blades are more exacting and a little lighter. The work the Guru has been helping me with is starting to show on the blades so I'll keep using them. Had a round with Virge while he was in Perth and the advice he gave me has been very invaluable as well. I have spent this whole week with a lot of practicing and I can see some marked improvement.

I also have an original set of Ping i2s 2-SW. These, I've had since 1986 up until three years ago when I bought the Pro100s. There are still a great club but it take a little getting used to the offset.

Drivers that are in my garage:
Nike 400 9.0°, Titleist 975J 8.5°, TM300 with Fuji Speeder S 9.5° and Titleist 983E 9.5° Aldila Stiff. I like the Titleist but it has a rattle in the head so I don't use.

I also have an Oddysey RossiII and Ping Anser SK5. The Bullseye is working for me at the moment.

Hey Thommo,

I'm intrigued with your reply..."interesting wedge combo"...please continue i think everyoneaready answered it for me. I just found it unusual to have uneven gaps between wedges, you effectively have two lob wedges.

Driver:

Srixon W-302 with 9.5" and stock Stiff.
Look out, the TaylorMade R7 TP in 9.5 has been ordered! Super long but looking for a bit more forgivness.

Woods:

TaylorMade V-Steel with 15" and stock Stiff.
UST iRod to come when i get the energy to do it.

Hybrid:

Srixon AD Hybrid with 18" and Aldila NV 85 Stiff.
Not looking to change this. Combo is good and i play it well off the deck or off the tee.

Irons:

Srixon I-506 with True Temper Dynamic Golf S300
Fantastic soft feel and good on my many off center hits. Only a few months old and not looking to change these for a while.

Wedges:

Srixon WG-504 52"
Good feel and nice gun metal finish

Ben Hogan 5612
Been in the bag for AGES and for good reasons. Fantastic feel and excellent response around the greens.

Putter:

MacGregor MOI 6.4K
Has been a bit edgy for the last couple of rounds. Looking to go back to a more traditional shaped putter.

Ball:

Titleist ProV1 or ProV1X
Depending on course conditions, will play either of these two balls. Maybe even the new Srixon Z-URS

sigs are back – YAY

I don't change my clubs very often, once I find something I like I tend to stick with it for a long time. I have recently made a lot of changes to keep up with technology and modernise my equipment and have gone through quite a few different drivers, fairway woods, hybrids and wedges to arrive at my current setup which I will probably keep for the next 2 or 3 years.

Driver

Mizuno MP-001 370CC 8.5° - Exsar 60 Stiff. I've been using this for the last 6 months and I like it. 6 months ago I was still using a TaylorMade Burner 8.5° with an X-100 in it, I'd been using it for about 10 years. Everyone else I normally play with had updated long ago but even though I was still knocking the old thing past all of them I figured it was time to change to something more forgiving. I tried R5's and R7's, a MacGregor V-Foil, an SMT something or other and a few different Bang Golf Models. I bought the Mizuno off ebay one day for the hell of it and I like it a lot, although I have to admit it isn't as straight as the old Burner. I have since bought another identical MP-001 and I am going to get a lightweight steel shaft put in it to see what happens.

Fairway Wood

MacGregor V-Foil 13° - Aldila V60 Stiff. Previous to this I had been using an old Persimmon Cleveland 3 wood, loft would probably be about 15°, I'd still be using it except it developed a crack in the neck. I tried quite a few different 3 woods before deciding on the MacGregor, they all went ok but in the end it was the very small compact head on the MacGregor that I liked.

Hybrid

Hogan CFT 19° - Apex 4. I actually like the feeling of the shaft in this a lot, I am considering reshafting my irons with Apex 4's to match, I have been using Dynamic Golds for about 20 years and this is the first steel shaft I have used in all of that time that feels better to me.

Irons

Precept Tour Preferred 4-PW (forged cavity) - Dynamic Gold S400. I have the matching 2 and 3 iron, I swap them in and out depending on where I am playing but recently I have just carried 4-PW. Previous to these I was using a set of Cobra Mild Steels from about 1990 that wore out on me. I also used a set of Wilson Staff's that I loved but someone decided to break in to my garage and relieve me of them. If I could get my hands on a set of Ram Tour Grinds from the early eighties in good condition I'd probably switch to them. These are my alltime favourites but are impossible to get your hands on now, I regularly check ebay in the hope of turning up a set. Whilst on the subject of alltime favourites, I have a set of MacGregor ColorKrom reissues from the early eighties that I would just love to use, the only problem is I like them so much I can't bear the thought of wearing them out. They were given to me as a gift by someone and they have a great deal of sentimental value as well as being the best looking set of blades I have ever seen

Wedges

GW Cobra Phil Rodgers 52° - S300. This is ancient, it's been in the bag for about 15 years, this is the second one, the first one wore out.

SW Wilson Sandy Andy 55° - S300. This has also been in the bag for a long time, probably 20 years or so. I have 4 of them that I have removed varying amounts of bounce from and I change them depending on where I am playing, one of them is completely worn, two are OK and the fourth one is like new.

LW El Cheapo Ram FX 60° - S300. I bought a set of these, 50°, 55° and 60° for my son at the beginning of the year and I liked the shape and feel of his so I got a set for myself, I think they cost me about $40USD plus shipping off ebay. I reshafted them with S300's and have been using the LW for a little while now, I have also been messing around with the SW and GW as well, they may all end up being in the bag. I am particularly interested in the GW, being 50° means I can maybe get my 9 iron bent a degree weaker and then drop the normal PW and just have the gap wedge which means it'll free up a space in the bag for a 3 iron.

Putter

I have been using the same putter for the last 15 years or so, it's a TaylorMade TC.1. When I first started using it people used to look at it and laugh, it's a great big triangular style head and is sort of like a mallet. These days it looks a lot like of others that you see in peoples bags, it's gone from a wild looking thing to pretty plain over the course of it's stay in my bag. I do try other putters all of the time, but I like this one.

I noticed there hasn't been many posts about people using Wilson Staff equipment. Despite being a life time TM man, I recently changed out my Vsteel for a FwC. This was a no brainer. I am getting ready to change my driver out for a Wilson driver. These honestly have to be the most natural feeling and straightest clubs I have ever hit in my life. Other than the Las Vegas style silver glitter headcover, I have to rate these clubs as a 10. Also by adding in stock quality aftermarket shafts, Wislon has made huge leaps from the products they used to sell at Wal Mart.

Awesome even getting pictures of the clubs, i'll have my camera out in the morning smile.gif

What a great thread smile.gif

yeah it was one of my better thoughts, and heaps of your guys are giving me ideas, i might try a hybrid now since so many of you guys have taken them up...iv been turned off by the fact that they are ugly lol smile.gif keep it up fellas

Tell us why you have the equipment, wat your planning and why you want to change, this is awesome!!

Driver -983K 9.5° with NV65S - I won this driver in a competition on Paul Casey's web site and it was made up in the Titleist Tour Van. I went to Wentworth to get the driver from him, so I partly keep it in the bag because it has the story behind it. I have also hit some fantastic drives with it, so I am keeping hold of it while I get my swing sorted. I could be tempted by either the Titleist 905R or the 460cc R7 when they come out

TM Rescue 16° with stock stiff shaft - I have never really got on with 3 woods, and this has done the job of getting me off the tee on short par 4's and getting me up the fairway on par 5's very nicely. I recently hit the Srixon W-403 14.5° and really liked the feel of it, so that may find it's way into the bag.

Mizuno FliHi 21° with stock steel shaft - I rarely used my 3 iron and this has done the job very well, although I have hardly used it in the last few rounds I have played. I also really like the Srixon 18° AD hybrid with NV 75s, so if I go for the 3 wood then this may well join it.

TM Rescue 25° with stock steel shaft - I bought this from a friend after trying it for a few rounds. It has worked really well and I am very confident with it where I used to feel a bit shaky at times with my 4 iron.

TM 300 Forged with Rifle 6.0's - Had these for a few years now and shot my best ever round with them when I was playing well 2 years ago. I was playing Ping i3 O size before these and I am thinking of going back to either some Blade Ping's or Pro Series Callaway's for the extra forgiveness.

C2 Vokey 52/08 with Dynamic Gold Wedge flex - The C2 is probably a bit overkill for a gap wedge as the grooves can spin the heck out of a range ball. I may replace this if I start to get my swing grooved a bit, as a full swing can get a bit unpredictable in terms of spin. I will probably go back to the normal Vokey or possibly try the Black Nickel finish Ping.

Titleist Brad Faxon 56° - I got this dirt cheap on Ebay as I wanted to try a forged wedge and it has been fantastic. It is starting to show it's age a bit, but a new grip and a clean up and it will last for a while yet. The RAC TP wedges have caught my eye (having read the hype about Y cutter grooves for so long), so I might give one a go.

C2 Vokey 60/08 with TX Tour (thanks to Ben) - The deep grooves make this a lovely wedge to use, as I only really use it for touch shots and never for a full swing. I just keep on experimenting with different types of shots and feel really happy with it. Definately a keeper.

Odyssey DFX 1100 33" - I also got this as a bargin from Ebay to try a short putter as I liked the style when I putted with it in my local golf shop. I have stuck with it, although it too may go as I continue to work on all aspects of my game. I really like the look of the YES! Sophia blade, so I might see what Santa can come up with wink.gif

D: Titleist 975D 10.5° Grafalloy Pro-Lite Reg Flex. Love when Im on, hate it when Im not. currently hunting for a replacement.

3W: Callaway Steelhead plus 14.5° Firm stock shaft. This is the go to guy. Can hit it left, right, high, low. Will always be in the bag.

5W: Cobra Baffler 18° reg steel. Looking to replace this with a hybrid.

3-PW: Titleist 990, DG r300. consistent but not spectacular. Long irons hard to get airborne.

GW: Vokey 52.08. DG Wedge flex. This is the most versitle club in my bag. great feel.

SW: Vokey 56.10 DG Wedge flex. Only need it from the sand (see above).

P: Ping G2 Tess (blade). Love the blade putters, have messed with others but will keep this baby for good.

In the near future, I am hoping to replace the driver with something more forgiving, I am hunting around at the moment.

My biggest struggle is being a lefty. There is not alot of top of the line gear, so I have had to settle with the gear I have got.

Wedges

Rac 52 and 54 degrees Cleveland 588 60 degree, weired loft combo I know but being a lefty I could not find a 56 and intended to get the 54 bent to 56 but I actually like it and there is a fair distance between them without the 54 ballooning.

Putter

Taylor Made Rossa Monza Corsa, I hate putting!

Fair call guys, quick reasoning which probably stems from nostalgia.

I've had the 60° since day one & it is the best club out of sand as I never miss, however it is a shocker for lob type shots from both fluffy & tight lies.

Where the Cleveland 58° is sensational as a lob wedge etc, but is very tough from the sand.

This is a further explanation of my set up...in saying that the 60° is close to retiring over the mantle piece.

Cheers & thanks for the feedback

Mate, don't worry about the brand name, if it works it works, end of story. As they say, you don't draw pictures on your scorecard, you just write down numbers, and there's no need to write down what you were using at the time either!
