I’m sure there was a thread on “how often do you change your ball?” but I couldn’t find it on a search.

What’s your record for most holes with the same golf ball? I’m up to 54 holes (2×18 and 2×9) with the same Bridgestone E6, which is a remarkable record for a high handicap slicer like me :-) I’d like to thank my eagle eyed friends for regularly finding my ball because my eyesight sucks.

The cover is holding up surprisingly well considering the punishment I give it with trees, scrub and bark etc. There’s some pitting and ground in dirt, but overall it’s holding up very well. Not enough for me to want to replace it yet, in fact the novelty of it makes me want to play it until I lose it!
This is actually the first time I’ve decided to keep a ball in play or consider retiring it, because normally I just lose them in the scrub :)

What’s your record with the same ball? Or do you like a clean fresh ball every round or every X number of holes?

A few years ago I did the South East Golf Tour in WA….I played all 4 rounds with the same Optima ball…..3 of these rounds were on sand green courses so you can imagine the state of the ball at the end. All I got at the end was a fine for being a tight arse.

Ah, well, my regular playing partner went 8 full rounds with a Vision Gel ball.
8×18 = 144
Didn’t lose it, didn’t drown it, didn’t OOB it, merely put it in the bottom of his bag.
He rang Boz and ordered more and The Great Man was most impressed.

144 holes and voluntarily retired? Holy cow that’s a testament to Boz’s balls…..wait that sounds terrible :-D

A truly awesome community achievement, but no way it’d still be in play if it had to go through more par 4s and 5s :-)

Am surprised at the durability of that E6 you say, as my quibble with them was they seem to knock up pretty quick

My little one managed 19×9 holes rounds with the same vision UV till a blocked 6 iron disappeared into some rushes. My son was devastated until about a month later the club pro handed it to him!
It now sits in the drawer of special things never to be hit again.
It did look pretty sad towards the end though.

I have no idea about my record… for the last few years at least, 18 holes is as far as they go before they’re retired to the practice bag.

I think it took the scuffing you see in the photos after maybe 20 holes, but surprisingly it hasn’t got much worse. I can’t scrub the dirt out of those ingrained marks, but I don’t cut up balls with wedges either so it’s not getting much worse. It’s starting to absorb some green from grass so it’s not very white any more, cover-wise it’s stil going strong!
This one was from Squizzy’s so guessing it might be a 2011 model?

Yarnie, do you get Pro V1 for pennants? We get some Titty DT solo rubbish. I have to provide my own Pro V1. It’s no wonder the rest of the old farts don’t win matches. Our captain is about as handy as a sore arse to a six day bike rider. Cam has the right idea- a new Pro V 1x whenever a ball looks like misbehaving or looks hurt.

Well my trusty E6 got through 56 holes, before I lost it after it hit a tree on its 57th. RIP E6, you served me well.
