Custom shoe fitting

I saw that Maria Sharapova has her tennis shoes custom made.

“Getting my feet scanned yesterday. This is the process of creating custom made shoes based on the exact measurements of your feet…pretty fancy stuff.”

I wonder if any pro golfers have the same benefits. Without thinking, I’d say Tiger would. Wonder if any of the others have that benefit?

Is it actually for the shoe “last”, or just inner soles/orthotics.
Ive had the same thing done but for custom orthotics by the guys here in Sydney at the Football Stadium Clinic…

Slightly off topic but just having started golf in the last few months and was about to buy some golf shoes after playing in my sneakers, because I thought you just have to have golf shoes, then noticed Justin Rose and Martin Kaymer getting around in skate style sneakers. The commentators mentioned they are doing it because it was easier getting through the 18 holes and they even provided more give when playing shots.

So unless it is wet why is anyone wearing golf shoes anyway? Seems like another unnecessary accessory put on pro players by manufactures to make sales, bit like gloves IMO.

You’ve opened up a can of worms. The opinions are fairly polarised.

I guess it is just a personal thing at the end of the day and whether you may have problems slipping or not, just something I have not noticed yet, even in wet conditions. Probably depends if you have your lazy arse in a cart all day or walking as well.

An article here on the trend towards spikeless,

The Adicross look like a nice design, if and when I need something more stable.

Edit: Guess I should have went to page 2, see it has been discussed already.
