Wet Weather Golf Gloves

After getting caught in a downpour today and clearly not having the right golf glove for the conditions I am after some experienced wet weather golfers to point me in the right direction as to what gloves work best in the wet. A guy in the clubhouse said first thing is to where a glove on both hands when it is wet. As well as golf gloves and golf secrets for the wet? Other than don’t play.
THE GOODIES: |
|
When it is really wet, I tend to cycle through the 4 or 5 gloves in my bag – when one gets wet enough to affect my grip, I put the next one on.

Spare socks, shirts, gloves etc. second pair of shoes too if you have room. The longer you can go without becoming completely water logged the less unenjoyable the round will be.

Leather grips, improved feel when it rains

Buy a car chamois I then wipe the grips the before each shot then quickly with a dry towell to get off any excess (small one inside the bag) I also use some grippo on my hands (lawn bowls stuff) and this works a treat and yep some wet weather gloves, FJ ones the best But the chamois is the go – just ring it out and its awesome for getting moisture of grips – golf towells once wet are useless
Golf is only a game…Yeah right who are you kidding? |

try the mizuno rain fit, i quickly got used to the suede feel easier to put on after a lot of uses . before i stopped wearing a glove it was all i used, summer soaked up the sweat , winter did the same with the rain and as a bonus lasted a bit longer, washable too extending there life, did not getting those slippery spots that leather grips sometimes do. for me, wont ever use a leather glove again definately worth a try imo.

FJ Raingrip gloves. They come in pairs so you can wear just one, or one on each hand. The wetter they get, the better they grip. I use them in winter and I have never had to bother with toweling off my club grips. I have no issues with touch shots whilst wearing a glove on each hand. Peter

a bloke in my club uses indoor cricket gloves…..never tried them myself but he swears by them
Consultancy….if you’re not part of the solution, there’s big bucks to be made prolonging the problem. |

I use FJ Raingrip gloves. Although they work in the wet, be aware that when the rain becomes torrential even they stop working.

Try the Fit39 gloves http://www.distinctivegolf.com.au/ Absolutely brilliant in all weather conditions but particularly good in wet and humid weather. Can be washed in the washing machine too. Watch the sizing though…my husband is usually a large in regular gloves and takes a medium in Fit39. I wear a small in regular gloves and SS in Fit39. These gloves are fantastic…I will never use a regular glove again.

Hi I use and can recommend cotton gloves! $2.00 at the chemist. I bought some wet weather gloves years ago at our pro shop and they were actually made of cotton. Our assistant pro advised me to get cotton gloves from the chemist. I didn’t believe this would work but I gave it a go. Since the gloves are wet, you need a player to mark the score card and then at the end of your round write your scores on his/her card that you are marking. yes I might look silly, but I don’t care I don’t have to muck around drying grips, using 3 pairs of gloves. I’m ready to select my club and hit the ball. Try it you have nothing to lose!
I am searching for an electric golf buggy and having read all the reviews I gotta say I am reluctant to buy an MGI. Has anyone got a powacaddy, motokaddy or an eagle compac & if so are they good? I won’t be buying a Chinese made one either. |

Hi Ellimb, Long time no hear! Doing well but would be much better if the rain and extreme humidity would be gone from Sydney. And you? Yeap…size ss in these gloves for me…I have very small hands. Just to add to my last post and to cross reference to another thread I started awhile back about gloves and contact dermatitis caused by leather gloves… It has taken me quite some time to rid my hands of the contact dermatitis which was caused by the tanning solutions, cromides (sp?) in leather gloves, but once I ditched the leather and switched to the Fit39 gloves as well as using a hand cream containing urea and silica the problem was solved. I like the fact these gloves can be washed regularly. To me wearing a glove month after month without washing/or replacing is like wearing the same pair of socks time after time…disgusting! The added bonus being these gloves are fantastic in all weather conditions. Once they are on they do not slip or twist even in the wettest conditions.

JJK Well end up buying 5. One for me, one for my wife and 2 size ss for other lady friends. Peter added a casino chip (marker) too. He should thank you for your review of fit39 golves.

ellimb Yeah…golf still improving but had a little set back with the new driver (RomaRo Ray HX Black) my husband gave me for Christmas. Took me awhile to get use to it. Driving much further…now back on track. I am so please to have found the Fit39 glove. The reaction I was having from the tanning solution in leather gloves was getting to the point where I was considering giving up golf altogether. It is out of necessity that I wear them. I also love that I can wash them after a couple of rounds. Synthetic gloves go close but it is very difficult to find a 100% synthetic ladies glove that fits my small hand. A few of my playing partners have also bought the Fit39 gloves after seeing mine…all love them. Just wanted to share with others about these glove as they are not seen around much.

JJK On a serious note, RomaRo driver loft is limited to 12

Now don’t go and spoil it Ellimb by thinking below your belt! And yes I was using a higher lofted driver (15) previously. You have a good memory! The Romaro comes in HT loft which is 13 (I think).

I’m with 1madgolfer – cotton gloves the way to go. Been using them for years. Gotta have them wet tho to use. I always have a few pairs of light cotton gloves in the bag for wet days.
