I’m looking at buying a small, dopler radar clubhead speed monitor. The monitors are available on American golf websites – around $100 USD + postage. Before I spend my dollars overseas, does anyone know if these monitors are available for sale in the land of Ozis.

Which brand/model are you talking about vetgolfer?

Hi Daves The device is simply called ‘Swing speed Radar’. Don’t know the name of the manufacturer. It is about the size of an ipad. It’s described as a ‘Microwave doppler radar speed monitor’. Some models will also measure swing tempo. The price in the USA is around $100. The device uses the same technology to measure clubhead speed as do the vastly more expensive Trackman or Flight Scope devices – but does not provide other measurements, such as clubface angles, angles of attack, launch angles, trajectory, etc. One would reasonably expect that these devices are available for purchase in Oz. I prefer to spend my money at home , rather than overseas, so, if you, or anyone else has any info, please post.

Try the “Swingbyte”
LOFT. the real reason why my handicap is where it is! |

Agree, but if you can wait a month or two the swingbyte2 is coming out. Only difference over the 1st gen is the attachment mechanism to the shaft. I have the 1st gen one and it’s fine. I use it nearly everyday and have clocked up around 1000 shots with it. Very good thing.

OK, one of these; http://www.sportssensors.co... I have one with the Tempo Timer option. I bought mine 2nd hand, so not sure if they are available new here. I haven’t seen them in any store here in my travels. Another option is a Zelocity Pure Contact; http://www.zelocity.com/gol... About twice the price, but gives you Swing speed plus estimated distance (carry or total as selected). Also, as others have posted, the Swingbyte, plus similar devices like the 3Bay Swing Analyser will give you a swing speed reading that is reasonably accurate, along with a lot of other swing data and graphics. So they might be a better value buy, depending what you are after. Both are around the $200 mark.

Hi Daves, The model depicted on the Sportssensors.com website is the device which I’m interested in. Doesn’t seem to be available for purchase in Oz, so I’ll have to shop overseas.

Hi vetgolfer I’m interested in this one I was going to buy the zelocity one but like how the ES12 connects to your smart phone and then allows you to analyse your practice session. More expensive than the one you’re looking at but I like the look of the additional features. Just thougfht i’d throw in another one for you to look at!!!
