Locating lost rangefinder

Folks,

I had my awesome Bushnell Hybrid rangefinder stolen yesterday. Do you guys know if there’s a way to track its location using its GPS? Or to disable it so the punk can’t use it? I’m spewing… . I’ve checked the manual/website and can’t find any info on this. Thanks heaps.

Tramps like us, baby we were born to run.

Gutted mate, was it stolen on course while you were playing?

If this was lost during a comp round, any right minded member should hand it in to the pro shop, otherwise they are pretty lowlives.

I was putting my wet weather gear on my bag yesterday before my round started – I was in between our pro shop and practice green and put it on a bench while I was getting ready. I got called to the tee and had to quickly hoof it there. As I neared my tee shot on the first hole I realised I didn’t have it – hoofed it back in a mate’s buggy to where I left it and it was gone. Was probably less than 10mins in between. Have told my pro and he’s going to mention it in his next e-newsletter to all members tomorrow, but no-one’s handed it in yet. There was bugger all people even at the course yesterday cos of the shit weather…I’ve got a copy of the timesheet…maybe I’ll go round with some goons and see who flinches:). Bastard cost me $429 and I’ve only had it six months. In my time at my current club I’ve not met any arseholes, so I’m surprised it hasn’t been handed in. Bullshit form really…

You can’t help arseholes – they help themselves.

Are you a member of the club, and if so, does your membership include insurance of your equipment while at the club? Might be able to make a claim.

Yeah, I’m a member, but dunno about insurance. Will ask about that…

Suggest if you have timesheets book a game with each name on the sheets and see who uses your gadget, may take a while and remember revenge is sweet even if it takes time.

Strip search….. No lubricant!!

I’m just misunderstood that’s all…

Someone may have grabbed it and will hand it in next game.

Get some signs done up and coat the pro shop door, put $50 up as a reward.
when someone hands it in, and if they ask for the $50, give them the third degree as to why they didnt hand it in earlier.

If you’re friendly with the pro, check the time sheets this next game against last.

Either way mate, if its a half tight club, someone will cough it up one way or another. These things are still used by the minority.

Good luck

fuzzy

leave things lying around ya cant always expect it to be lying around when ya get back….

however i think it is rather low act that a member would pinch another members gear butsometimes ya just cant trust anyone

even if you played and someone came out playing with a bushnell hybrid rangefinder it is going to pretty hard to say it was yours unless you know the serial number of it and the person allows you to look at it…

anyway wish you luck and you recieve it back in one piece

I found a brand new one on the fairway a few months back at my home course. Handed it in to the pro, he knew who had lost it and said they would be stoked. The next 2 times I went to play a round were free as the guy paid my fees and cart for them on my account with the pro shop when he picked it up. Still have a beer with him every now and then when we cross paths on the 19th. Honesty gained me a mate, a couple of free rounds, and he plays off way lower than me and helps me out where he can.

Any shot is possible. Except in a comp round of stroke.

honesty is always the best policy as you found out

that was a good thing by the rightful owner to do just to say thankyou

karma is a big thing and we all know what it is like to have someone steal something or lose something and the feeling you get when it happens and the hope that someone returns it

my thinking is if you know ya dont like it being done to yaself why do it to others it is much better seing them smile then looking worried they may never see it again

Hey Fuzz

Just in response to your original post, rangefinders and all the (let’s call them) non-phone based GPS units are GPS receivers only. They do not transmit any sort of signal that can be detected by another device.

Hopefully one of those low-tech devices (that is, a human) will be able to locate your device and hand it in.

As a cricketer the Coverdrive was the hardest shot to master. As a golfer, I can achieve it with frustrating regularity.

That TOOOTTTTALLLY sucks donkey balls man. Even with your number on the thing, the nerve of such pricks. The other day I found an ATM card on the ground and went out of my way to hand it into the closest branch of that bank. I’m no saint, but this sort of thing is just common decency and courtesy, which doesn’t actually seem to be all that common amongst the wanker set…

Deos the club have CC Tv they can go back and watch?

Haha – I wish. They may, but I’ve not seen any cameras and they’ve not mentioned it to me. I’ve pretty much done everything I can right now. Just have to see how the club will help me spread the word to find the culprit.

Looks like its about to get interesting. Is there a suspect WR77? Are you the supergrass? Will you need to go into Witness Protection?
