Of 4 current sets of clubs..
Two sets start at 1 iron
Two sets start at 2 iron

Newest set was bought, at least partially because they made a stock 2i. There are precious few modern sets that come with a 2 anymore.

The 2i is my preferred club off the tee unless needing the extra distance to clear a hazard, then it’s the driver. Can’t recall the last time used or carried the 1i except at the range for fun.

Get decent distance with the 2i off the tee, better consistency than with the driver, more roll whereas the driver tends to check up more.

Never quite got used to hybrids and as Deege said, I am also much more comfortable hitting irons from the rough or poor lies.

I use a 2 iron, but it’s a Mizuno MP Fli-Hi which is pretty close to a hybrid. I have a high ball flight and I find hybrids just exagerate this. It’s 18 degrees which gives me about 5 degrees between my longest clubs.

ditched my 3 wood today in favour of my old mizuno tp19 1 iron, have not hit the 1 iron ever really, hit it twice off the tee and once off the fairway, twice with average results, one off the tee was perfect, wow it felt good.
