Are Power Golf part of Golf World/Mart?

Maybe. The Aussie distributor is Axis Golf which I believe is a company under the Brosnan Golf Group umbrella. It contains obviously Brosnan, the website greatrounds.com and Golf World/Mart, including exclusivity over Nike, Adams and Prosimmon. I would assume others can stock Nike through Axis Golf but I would guess there will be a premium to pay for that privilege. I have noticed that NZ has the same issues we have including lack of the proprietary Nike fitting system, big markups and poor distribution timeframes. If Axis control their distribution, it explains it.

So other than the tour model being 430cc, and the other being 460cc, what’s the difference between the 2??

Try this if you havent seen it. Or this one From my POV the difference is the Tour has lower spin and launch. I’d probably guess the Tour is less forgiving although I havent heard that specifically yet. You can see the sheer size difference in the second video.

For me, they’re big selling points. I tend not to get too bound up by the whole ‘forgiving’ notion. A crap swing will send a ball OB just as easy with a ‘forgiving’ club …

Certainly is a massive difference in the sizes when you see them together. But if the only real difference is a couple of hundred RPM’s as he says, I wonder if the ‘tour’ is worth the extra $100?? Hmmmm, so much to consider!!

On first impressions, Mark Crossfield is going gaga for it :-) http://www.youtube.com/watc...

I think the big question for him will be the hits lower down on the face. In his comparison of his 910 D3 vs the Nike VR Pro LE, they were neck & neck in every way except he found the power channel of the Nike really worked for mishits lower on the face. He’s commented about the benefits of the power channel a few times since then. IMO the Covert Tour will have to prove itself to him in more ways than one, particularly since it doesn’t have a power channel, before the VR Pro LE gets let go from his grasp. I can understand what he means about the power channel. I play the VR Tour and it really does work on the lower off the face hits.

There are certain drivers that are very stable when not hit quite in the centre which I think is the whole concept of “forgiveness”. However, when I got my 910 D3 it was because of a preference for the smaller head as opposed to the D2 which actually performed very similarly. Granted the Covert Tour head is another 15cc smaller than the D3 so I will have to see when I get my hands on one. Honestly, I dont think I’ve ever been as excited or anxious about a product of any kind ever before. There is something about this driver that really has me in a spin.

Ha ha.. Yeah he does love that compression channel. Will be VERY interesting. Then there’s the bloody fairway woods and hybrids….argh.

Yup Bushy, that fairway wood has me intrigued.

Yeah, the 3 and 5 wood are the only holes I really have left in my bag. I dont need a driver but at this point I cant see me talking myself out of buying one. :)

I dont like the tick – the red hmm not sure I just cant understand why nike and other brands for that matter dont do what cobra did with the ZL encore… do a black and do a white version do the red by all means but do a black offering as well the swoosh I just cant stand and yes I’m a bit anti nike to be honest but it looks like a kids toy club if you ask me
Golf is only a game…Yeah right who are you kidding? |
|
Im actually holding of buying a Tour Edge Exotics 5 wood, just to see if the Covert is as good.

I wanted to pass this link on Nike Covert Q&A with Product Execs This happened at 4am this morning. Alot of insightful questions from the forum members and great answers from the Nike guys.

There is mention on the link I posted that Nike did research and they found when focusing on the ball the human eye can only focus on the surrounding 1.25”. Hence the swoosh is out of your focus when playing. Fair enough though if you dont like it, I can see your point. The red is very nice though.

Nike apologises for the VR_S Covert driver:
|
|
I like the advertising, but didn’t Nike just shell out $125M to get possibly the next great player, and now they are releasing the next great Driver? Phil just credited his new Driver for his win last week? Will any of the Nike boys be able to do the same? anytime now?
|
|
Marketing babble by Phil. He has been smacking his RBZ 3 wood well in the last few months but nary a word about how good his TM 3 wood is …
