Anyone played both UST V2 and GD Pershing?

Hey all,

I need your help.

I’m currently running a stiff V2 in a Hibore XLS and i reckon it’s a shade too much shaft for me..

when i’m swinging well and go after it, it’s perfect.. absolutely flies. However, when i get tired or i’m not swinging so well and have to take a bit off, i struggle to load it. This leads to some shocking golf shots late in rounds when i’m a little fatigued and still trying to swing out of my shoes to load the shaft properly.

So, i’m thinking of whacking in a different shaft.. i’ve read some nice sounding things about the Pershing. Things like being super smooth (which appeals vs the V2’s often ‘boardy’ feel). In particular, i’ve read some user reviews suggesting it plays around 3/4 of a flex firmer than it’s letter. I’m a hitter, but i have a reasonably smooth transition. I’ve got no idea of my clubhead speed (something i intend to change) but a comfortable 7iron is my 150m club and an average drive would end up in the 240-250m range.

I reckon it leaves me trapped between flexes. I was thinking a regular flex Pershing may be the solution (perhaps tipped a shade extra)? Has anyone hit both of these shafts and can give me a comparison of their flexes, ballflight, how they load, etc?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated as i reckon limited opportunities to test set ups will require me to take an educated guess… i’d like to get it right!

Anyone played both UST V2 and GD Pershing?
Yes both.
I found both to be to stiff for my liking, I played the GD in a 75 weight stiff.
I found the Y6+ to soft in reg, have not played the Pershing in reg

I use the V2 in reg at the moment, which I quite like. Never feels to soft even when a go after it. I hit my biggest drive with this shaft 270m .

My swing speed with driver is mid 90s.
Not a big hitter by any means avg 210m mark.

For my 2c, that V2 regular is the best shaft I’ve used. In the driver & will be in the fairways very soon.

V2 stiff 67 grams in my R7460. Absolutely love it. SS is 101mph. Used a Graffaloy Blue 65 Stiff and that felt very stiff, had to really hit way too hard to get a desired result. The V2 launches the ball on a perfect trajectory for me, with a consistent non-agressive swing…

so if one’s ss is arounfd 90+ then the V2 reg will be the best bet ?? correcto ?

If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ?
Square is Good ? Sure is, if it's the right stick !

Depends on feel, I’m not to keen on a real stiff shaft in my driver, I need to feel the club load at the top of my swing to help with timing.
I also like the feeling at impact with a slighty softer shaft.

Thats just me, I’m sure guys who swing slower than me like a firmer shaft.

The head will always be king in ball flight, you are only fine tuning your ball flight and feel of the club with the shaft.

My driver have NVS 65 stiff, NV 65 stiff, DVS reg 55 and V2 reg.

Swing speed 95ish, can swing a lot harder but spray the hell out of it ( hooks cuts slice you name it ) , my driving is probley the worst part of my game. I learnt to hit a hit fade just so I can hit fairways.

Rule of thumb, if it feels too stiff, it probley is.

it’s a matter of individual feeling

btw that adila DVS shaft (new model) heard great things about it
but it costs a bombe now
hows it compared with the ust v2 in performance ? ...i know it’s priced much higher than the v2…..

Good question, Can’t really give you a good answer, this is how it feels to me. Plays the same for me in performance, just feels better. Seems to be butt firm, but more lively in the mid to tip section.

I play the DVS in reg.

I get alot of stuff for cost, or free. I got one out of a adams drive for zip. Lucky me I guess.

I own 5-6 drivers depending on how i’m hitting them. I’m a poor driver. So I swap them around a bit. What ever is working at the time. Which is not the best thing to do. Thats golf.

I had the XTD version of the DVS in my insight until it snapped (i think the shaft had a flaw) felt a lot better than the V2 regular I have in it now for me. DVS feels very light, the club whips through the air.

Dan

think dvs is adila best shaft for the average punter
but pricy if it’s not covered by warranty !
it weighs only 55gm vs 65 or 70gm for the v2 ?
