Have a look at the warranty on your current driver. My mates day cracked the head on his R580XD by hitting the extremeties of the club one too many times and got a free TM Burner for his troubles.

Agree with Mr. C, don’t go spending your money yet, check the warranty. If you can get a replacement, use the money that her indoors thinks you are going to spend on a new driver on something else, (just don’t tell her)

Or buy her new shoes and reap the benefits ;-)

I’m looking at a Nickent 3DX square driver – you can pick one of them up for about $150 aus. from the US, or I saw a special at a chain of pro shops for $200 if you don’t like to buy from overseas. Think I’ll sit in on this thread for a bit if that’s OK. :) P.S. You might want to consider marrying somebody who gives you carte blanche on the golf clubs. :)
I may well have the worst short game in Australia. |

OOHHH this sounds good, might have a look, Cheers

Tell us about your game, scores, etc. What are you seeking?

another vote for the burner can put any old ugly swing on it and it goes pretty straight and long

Lind Apache, meets R&A Regulations (on their list as are a few of their drivers) $300 with Graphalloy Pro Launch Blue, custom 1.5inch long with dual compound grip. I hit it straighter, can work it either way without any problems and regularly hit it past 300m. It’s as good as a Ping G5, better than a Titleist (whatever number it was) longer than a Callaway, the only driver I have found that comes close is a Nike thing I hit week before last and it was a lot more expensive. Just my 2c worth, but I won’t be looking any further next time I upgrade.

And worth $1.50 when you trade it in.

So? Minimum loss on a name driver is half what you paid for it, and then only if you got it second hand. Have a look around this forum and you will see losses of 5 or 6 hundred dollars on the so called brand name drivers when the guy trades it in. Most I can lose is $300. Fact is the shaft and grip are the most important part of a driver anyway. The head just launches the ball the way you want it to. ie if you can stand to look at those square things then you buy one if you want it to go straight all the time, forget working the ball with one of them. I’ll just replace the head on my Graphalloy Blue pro launch shaft when I want to upgrade, should cost me all of $30. and I keep the bit I really wanted to start with.

Im a 15 handicapper, and the weakest part of my game is probably my drives, i dont have a wicked slice but lets say it does go left to right more often than not, im thinking the taylor made DRAW burner would be beneficial to my game.

TGW seems to only be doing the $200 deal on the draw version, so your in luck. If you do end up ordering from there please let me know if the service was good and how much shipping cost.

Shouldn’t you take it back to where you bought it and see what they can do, it shouldn’t crack, without abuse, in 12 months. Besides, your ‘undying love’ should be enough for you wife.

The fact is you have just stated that, your ball flight has a fade to it. There is a couple of options. 1. Get a club face which is slightly closed 1-2 deg that will help a little. 2. the fact you slice is a sign, you might have a steepish, out to in swing path, ( Which means if you are right handed, a ball flight which starts left slight pull and then fades right), the last thing you want is a driver which is 46’ long, it will made your ball fligth worse. 3. Don’t take this the wrong way there is no way you are hitting 250-280 meter avg drives when this is the weakest part of your game, and you fade and slice( check the pga tour stats) unless you where down hill, down wind and supper hard fairways. Make sure you get the correct weight and the flex for the shaft. Good luck with the driver shopping
Watch out typos + poor grammar. |

Janjuc, Off the top of my head, I could name many brands (drivers) that will crack under 12 months. These are um..quality mate that go for prices between $50-$200. They crack on the crown and also near the heel and not from having a dummy spit on a concrete tee block.
