I was thinking of buying a set of long sleeved upper skins for golf due to living in qld and i’m trying to be more sun smart. Has anyone on here used them before?

Golf is a good walk ruined!

Seven – Rather than boring you with details, go into the search area at the top right of screen, type in Cancer Council or Polo Shirt or Long Sleeve Polo and read about everything that has been spoken about on this subject in the forum. Sizes, comparisons, prices, where to get them etc…

why dont you just wear long sleeve polos

Skins are really good. Save yourself so bucks though and get nike or canterbury ones. About 40-50 bucks cheaper. Ebay has some.

Shouldn't I be working.........?

a mate swears by them, he use them for the cold as we live in the south, I dont like them, they feel itchy to me

yeah ebay is the go

I’ve got a long-sleeved Nike one, they normally run around $80-90, I got mine through a rep for $20. I went out and played a couple of times in 35+ days, and it takes a while to get used to but I love it. You warm up a bit but as soon as a breeze hits you the venting mesh cools you down so much, it feels great.

Word of warning though if you get a white one, wear white gloves, cos on one of the superhot days, my sweat made my black glove leak onto the sleeve, leaving a gross-looking mark I had to wash out a couple of times.

Seven,
The toughest thing about golf is when you cannot play as much as you would like to. Skin Cancer! The damage is done at an early age and comes back to haunt you later on. Not many people know this or like to think it will not happen to them. Some skin cancers do kill and are very aggressive. Wearing a long sleeved shirt is great but your face is what gets damaged the most over time. Sun Smart? I thought it would never happen to me but it did. That is a golf lesson.

Yes ,e too. Had a cancerous lump cut from my ear and luckily they got all of it. I bloody HATE wearing hats but do so now. As you say Maxifli a good golf lesson.

I’m always the guy wearing a floppy-brimmed hat amongst a group of guys wearing baseball-caps. My old man’s had one removed from his nose and I have skin like him, so I’m always careful.

The worst case I ever saw was when I played at Yarrawonga, there was a fella there in his 60s or so, looked like he’d been playing his whole life, he had bandages all over his arms and a big one across his nose. He looked like he’d had at least half a dozen cut out, and his skin was just…. ugh. That’s Australia for you I guess, highest skin cancer rate in the world.

I wear long sleeve cricket tops which are cheaper than skins! and are made of that high tech material that keeps you cool.

Eek

I like skins for running (long type) so much that I brought some short sleeve tops for golfing and gym. Unfortunately I found them to be a bit hot because I need to wear two layers of clothing instead of one (otherwise I would look a bit silly). Would be great for winter though because it’s quite comfortable. I can’t tell whether it improves my performance or not i.e. can’t tell whether my muscles are less stressed or recovers more quickly.
But I swear by them for running. My legs lasts a lot longer and recovers a lot quicker with them.

Buy the shorts/jocks as well, stops the chaffing in summer.

Skins have a specific product for golf, Personally i use a set of skins for Soccer and they take a bit of getting used to, still give me stomach aches if i wear them too long- I couldn’t see myself wearing upper body skins wouldn’t they be a tad restrictive?
