As a member of Newcastle Golf Club, i would like to convey my disapointment in the players who competed at our wonderful course in this event. The course has been left in what could only be described as a disgraceful state. Un-filled and un-replaced divots are strewn across all fairways and the greens resemble war zones where hardly a pitch mark has been repaired. Yes, after a tournament where the course was used for 3 days you would expect some wear and tear but nothing to the degree that has been caused by the NSW Am participants. You guys might think that because your better than us average golfers that you can get away without replacing divots, repairing lob marks, raking bunkers etc but golf is a game of etiquette and you have displayed very little respect for such a great a truly wonderful piece of land. I would certainly hope that you don’t treat your home courses like you treated Newcastle this past week.

Gee, I wonder what the pros would have done if you were hosting a main tournament! then again the mossy’s would have lifted them away! Players certainly should respect golf courses, but any main tournament will see a course get hammered…..

Yes Doggy, i do understand that and yes i am probably just having a whinge but i believe that there is a difference between tournament wear and tear and the state Newcastle was left in after their 3 days playing the course. No respect was shown whatsoever!

All right ramblers, lets get rambling! |

I thought this could be an issue before the tournament started. We have very soft greens and the pitch marks seem to rip out decent size pieces of turf because of this. These guys dont miss too many greens per round so it’s of no suprise that the greens took a beating. As whosback said the greens are slow, bumpy and generally full of pitch marks anyway.

Try playing a round at any course the day after the local district veterns have played it. Surely Newcastle G.C wasn’t that bad.

How do vets make pitch marks? They can’t reach the green outside 100m and when they’re inside 100m they use their putter.

lol so true – I played ambrose on australia day and almost choked when one of my playing partners pulled out a putter from 120metres :D

Good on Michael, he is a great guy, I played with him last year. Not much of him, but very sharp iron play.
