Tiger can he last the Distance ?

Tiger is the Best Now However the reality is that he has something physical that is biting him now and if he doesn’t get this fixed he may never last the distance to shatter Nicklaus’ records (which i hope he does) This is certainly a distinct possibilty or even probability…. no one really knows now and for all those Tiger haters out there it will be a day they can celebrate your thoughts ?
If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ? |

I believe that Tiger will continue to play for the foreseeable future and he will be using the best possible medical advice and procedures. I think you may see less of him at regular tour events, but he will play all majors as soon as his knee is able. In other words I think he will manage his injury as best he can. Tiger is very ambitious and driven, that he will find a way to manage, although like at the US Open he has just won, he may be less than at his best, but we all know that Tiger at less than his best is potentially better than every other golfer at their peak.

so we may have seen the best of tiger already….? and using his ‘second’ best and determination (although not the ideal)...he will continue to assault the majors…. looks like the thing that can bring him down is not his opponents but his health ! the longer he stays off playing (even the normal tour events) the more rusty he gets n the chances slimmer

I expect he has at least another 40 years,

I think he will be back, he would have only rushed back last week because it was the open. Takes some time make sure he gets the knee right and away he goes. I mean if footballers can bounce back after knee recons and play on for years I’m sure tiger is a good enough athlete to do the hard work to get back to his best.

With Hogans physical toughness as an inspiration I am sure Tiger will be out there for many more years. Mentally he is super tough and focused. Whether another focus takes his fancy is another issue altogether.

Whether another focus takes his fancy is another issue altogether. that’s true

He seems to have the nature of a competitor, a feirce one at that. He won’t quit till he’s won the most majors or he is forced to I guess. I would love to see him still playing in the years to come.

I would be surprised if he plays between now and The Open. He possibly did come back a bit early, but he only had an arthroscopic clean, it wasn’t a reconstruction or anything. Proper physio, rest and strengthening, he will be as good as gold and heading for his next major at the end of July.
The key to success is to learn to do something right, then do it right every time. Oh I wish..... |

I honestly hope so…...

Just a sideline to this – they said something in passing on the commentary of the US Open about Tigers Top 10’s in Majors which I found very interesting. They said that for Tiger to match Jack’s Top 10’s he would have to finish Top 10 in EVERY Major from now until 2019!!!!!!! Pretty amazing I thought.

that’s another one of those stats only a Big IF now…..given his knee

I was discussing this point with some friends. One of them made the point that in the era of Nicklaus’ prime, there was nowhere near the depth of quality players that there are today. I tend to agree, and if Woods can break the most wins record it will be even more remarkable.

that could be one way of looking at it, the other would be that Nicklaus was better because he was able to make a much bigger gap between himself and the rest of the field making them look more ordinary, I am willing to say that both are great, and we are privileged to see Tiger at work while he chooses to play

Kyc, I wasn’t saying that this stat is more important than the wins. I just found it amazing on it’s own. Of course the 18 wins is more important! What is Tiger now ..31? He has to Top 10 EVERY time until he’s 42. Don’t you find that incredible?
|

Got it…. That indeed is superbly incredible i would say

With an ACL reconstruction Tiger won’t be able to hit a golf ball for at least 8 weeks after the operation – all things going well. The interesting thing is Ernie Els took a good 12 months to become competitive at PGA Tour level, how long will Tiger take? The next era of world class golfers are on the horizon – can Tiger hold them out? – that is the big question.
