I was at the driving range today testing out my new Cleveland Hibore 5 wood. First outing – i was hitting them really well. With about 4 balls left, the head snapped off the shaft.

I am now wondering what i should do. I was told i should go to the place where i bought it – only thing i got it off ebay.

I have contacted the guy i got it from, but i havent got a reply yet. Hopefully he should reply soon.

I am wondering whether it was a faulty product, a fake, or just bad luck? (how can i tell if it is fake or not – i am sure it is real, i was hitting it well and it went very well too. Only thing a bit weird was the sound – a bit tinny – are Hibores meant to sound like that?)

Contact Cleveland themselves and ask them about it. If you got it off eBay, there is the chance that it is fake. If Cleveland doesn’t do anything about it, have yourself fitted for it and get it reshafted.

I haven’t heard the hi bore 5 woods but the drivers have a tinny sound, bit like the cobra’s

If you paid by PayPal you have a chance by going to complaints and indicate you have a faulty product,(or fake). In any case you have to report to the supplier, the problem and ask what is he prepared to do., to initiate a complaint, like you have done.

Interestingly, Cleveland have been aquired by Srixon and from the 1st of July, it will all change.
Cleveland have been madly selling stock off over the last couple of months. You might have a hard time getting anything done from the old Cleveland after the due date.
I think that the prices of Cleveland golf gear will come down in price after the 1/7/08 under the new Srixon administration.

Yes, genuine or not, all clubs are prone to breakage – you would expect a genuine to have less chance of breakage due to better quality control and materials. – do u have a pic?

Is it broken where the shaft connects to the head? or is it actually the head is broken? if its just the shaft bit, then many clubs are prone to break there due to it being a weak spot – also, driving range mats are particularly harsh on the wear and tear of a golf club.

as mentioned earlier, Phoenix Sports are changing hands to Srixon as distributors for cleveland, starting July. The phoenix sports repair section closed a couple weeks back, so you won’t be able to send it back to them for repair.

then has he replied ?

if so, what did he said
best is to settle this between u and seller

if not u may write to paypal explaining your siutation and see how they can resolve this…..

yup, all of ya who doesn’t at any time in your golfing life (not once) swing like Daly or Aussie Bomber…please confess

i must say at times when confronted with a ‘drivable’ par 4 or a second shot to the green on a par 5 i psyche myself up thinking i could generate a 150 mph club speed…luckily sometimes the rational mind takes over….

Took it back to where I bought it from without my proof of purchase – some golf companies do not give a warranty on clubs used at the range (so the golf shop pro told me), he said he would talk to Brosnan (the distributor of Adams in Aus) . Rang the next day, they are reshafting it for me for free.
I would take it to your local stockest of Cleveland and ask if they can help out, they may be able to do the warranty work for you like my sitatation.

that’s scary cos i have a Bul 5000 driver too
about the 6 months old but used only 2-3 x on the course

hope the head stays sane and dont decapitate…..

bought it over the net so may not have as much luck as you in getting the shaft re-done if it breaks…touch wood :)

did you imply that you snapped the shaft on the range ?
and if the shaft snapped on the course it’s under warranty ?

frankly, who (except U ) can tell the diff whether it snapped on the range or not ?

2 guys are selling mizuno mp-600 drivers
1 has serial number 1629506 & the other has serial number v20697.
Which 1 do you think is the fake?
Or are they both fake?

That would be something you take up with the seller. It has nothing to do with Paypal.
