Discussion for Jason Day Audio Interview - June 2008

Well done Bruce, very interesting interview.

After seeing a series of missed cuts for Jason, I was wondering about his mindset and it seems very positive. He’s proven that when he plays weekends, he can contend.

Obviously this season is about acclimatising. A 20yo ‘kid’ trying to come to terms with a totally foreign lifestyle and environment, while being ready to play his best golf on new courses set up as tough as they are – instant success is asking a hell of a lot…

If he can find another top 10 finish or two he’ll be OK and his second season will be worth following. Sounds like he is practicing hard, just has to put 4 rounds together. Don’t want to judge him too much, I just hope having his girlfriend there is right for him and his game right now(??).

Great luck to him.

with that sorta attitude, there may be hope of an young aussie golfer at the top not to far away

Great article Bruce. I have been searching for months on information on Jason as I think he has the potential to be the biggest sporting star we have had in a long time. I would see those poor results and wonder what was going on. Now I know, injury, new house (poor bugger) and new relationship.I think a positive is his continuing close working relationship with Gavin but I do hope that he has a little more open minded about discussing things with some of the other Aussie contingent. I’m sure guys like Adam Scott and Steve Elkington could offer good advice along the way although they would have to be asked and I’m not sure, by the sounds of it, that this will happen.
I’m just wondering how I can find out how he is going? I continually monitor PGA Tour site, TM site and google, but very little.
Again, thanks and hope you can do a follow up in the near future.

Great stuff Bruce

harty1au Jason has been mentioned occasionally on the golf blurbs Its designed for fantasy golfers so its not exactly in depth, but it does give some info especially if there is any injury news.

I’ll echo the rest bruce. Was a nice insight into the world of the up-and-comings (3 houses! You’ve gotta be kidding me!). All the best to Jason in the future too.

Thanks guys. It has been interesting to witness the growth of Jason as a individual as well as a golfer over the past couple of years since he has been playing in the US.

His answers now are much more expansive and I thought he gave us a good and ‘from the horses mouth’ insight into where he is at with things at present.

Sorry about the actual sound quality but we are working on that and have it improved for future interviews. We hope now to do more of those with players on iseekgolf in the future.

A couple of other interviews that might be of interest are those I have done with Peter Lonard (recovering from a back injury) and Nathan Green for their respective sites this past few days.
