Ban rescue club they only belong in a girls bag??? Takes skill to hit a long iron??
aim at the edge of the cup it makes the hole bigger |
|
simplistic in concept if one bans rescue\one can also argue ban 460cc head drivers and restrict these heads to 250cc
If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ? |

Hey Greenie, you aren’t millhouse reincarnate are you?

Well, let’s not start this, don’t talk to me about broomstick putters…...grrrrrr (hehe)

aim at the edge of the cup it makes the hole bigger |

thought like that for years, I got one last year and it saves me a minimum of 2 shots a round and if I’m having a bad day it can save me upwards of 6 shots….

I thought like that too, from memory I had a disagreement on my first visit here because of it, now I figure as long as it’s legal i’ll use it.

I dont play any hybrids, i have a 3wd and 5wd then 3 – PW. They are great for lots though. I might get a 2i hbyrid in time.

I will alway carry a 2 iron over any hybrid/rescue club… Just allows many more shots and shapes !!
|
|
Me too “hybrid shmybrid”
"Will the real slim shady, please stand up"? |
|
I cannot agree with that statement. I have a greater selection of shots that I can play than I ever did with my long irons.
A bad day on the golf course is better than no golf at all.

I do laugh when I read this sort of thing, it’s born of ignorance, I am not being insulting, it’s a fact. I’ve used 2 irons, and the fact is the large head on a hybrid just lets me do a lot more in so many different situations it’s unbelievable. Flusher, spend a month or so with a hybrid in your bag you will see what I mean. I can be 20 metres back from trees and hit down hard enough onto a ball to get it up over the top and fly for well over 200m, or I can hit a low drawing runner that will carry for a 140m then run another 60 up a fairway….you may be able to do this with a 2i, if you can then best of british, but I certainly can’t…

My favourite shot is a low running cut from under the trees. It is amazing how easy it is to control this shot with the Hybrid

The 2i may not be as versatile as a hybrid, but IMO in the right hands they can be more accurate, and good in windy conditions. I haven’t got enough club head speed to effectively use a 2i…if I did I may carry one. I seem to get the best “overall” results with my Mizuno 18 deg hybrid – iron.

What about a 7 wood?
Flush it, chunk it, flush it, chip it, hole it 5 a half! |
|
Lol…I thought hybrids belong in the girls bags and 7 woods belong in the old ladies bags? :P I must confess I have an old TM 22deg 7 wood and if I was playing for my life I’d probably carry it:)

Okay guys, I have to say a few things about 1/2 irons vs Hybrid irons and also 5/7 woods. I will conclude in saying that many top players do have a hybrid or so in their bag at times but the thing is, they have the skill to keep the ball on the fairway and when they do miss a fairway, hitting a 2 iron as opposed to a 2/3 hybrid does not come into the equation at times. The guys that are strong, do not need a hybrid iron as they are freaks with hitting a 1 or 2 iron. Then again, some of the top players carry a 5 wood at times (not many) but they do at times depending on the course they are playing. At the end of the day, it is practice. There is no other way.

Bought a 7 wood a couple of weeks ago specially for a certain par 3 on our course it’s guarded by bunkers at the front and drops away on both sides it’s rated the hardest hole on our course so at handicap 19 i get 2 strokes I struggle to get a 5 iron to stop on the green and my chip sometimes leaves me in 3 putt territory. Since buying my 7 wood which flies higher and lands softer i make the green EVERY time. Call me a girl if you like if I drop the putt I get 5 stableford points or in Par I can still 3 putt for a +

Hybrid, Do you wear a blouse ??? 7 Wood, fair dinkum, they are designed for my grandmother to use !!!!

are you serious? do you even play the game? come on, I think you play Aerial ping pong and are bored with talking on their forums because all they can discuss are how shorts their shorts are this week. So you’ve have come here to to see what real men are doing, thinkers and athletes…

IGNORANCE CLIFF !!! Does that mean you can’t actually hit a 2 iron ??? On the back of your comments I am impelled to pose this question… Hehe
|
|
Well I can hit a 2 iron, I choose not to. I can’t hit a two iron over a stand off trees from 20m but I can do that with my hybrid. Fact is I would rather carry 5 wedges in my bag than waste space with a club that is virtually useless in most situations. I suppose you carry a 1 iron as well as your 2 iron, that’s even TOUGHER…. that would make you a REAL man…. And yes I stand by the assertion if you believe a 2i is a better club than a hybrid, it’s born of ignorance….
Cliff Manley |

depends on the situation I suppose. Sometimes an iron is the only club to hit off tight lies
|
|
I find it hard to hit the hybrids…but I can hit my 3 and 4 irons quite well..in fact I am more comfortable wit hthem than my wedges…but Hybrids…just not for me….

interesting. i think it comes to personal preference. i don’t carry a 2 iron for reason, i can’t hit the bastard! the only thing i use it for is running the ball out from under trees! but i would never slander someone bc they do use one. this arguement is like mallet and blade putters, a bit silly to be making rash comments. we all have differing abilities and choose clubs that suit us. although i do remember about 10 years ago a pleasant old guy saying “if you get in a lightning storm on a golf course hold up your 2 iron, bc even god can’t hit one”. guess he didn’t know about a guy called tiger. lol. :)
