Social Golf betting

Howdy all

The boys and I are planning a golfing/Poker long weekend in a couple of weeks, we’re heading down south WA to try fit in a few rounds of the clubs down there.

There will be about 8 of us but we are all social players and no one has a handicap.

Whats the best way of trying to even out the field so we can fairly put some money/beers on the line.

Any Ideas ?

Make sure everyone is blotto on the first tee, that should even things out

Club: Kiama Golf Club

hcp: 2008 lowest 25.9
hcp: 2008 highest 27.6
hcp: 2008 current 26.1

First on green, first in hole, longest drive. Or first in water hazard is a round. That kinda stuff is always fun and encourages daring play.

Hard one really. It sounds like you are all hackers and score 100++ before lunch Bradman style. You don’t want to be on the course for hours because that will interupt your valuable boozing time so I suggest you don’t play stroke. Give everybody either 18 (or 27) and make the relevant adjustments for the second round. This way you can play stableford and the round won’t take 5 hours. After you get an idea of form from round 1 then you can start having a few dollars on the winning scores. As previously stated, break it up a bit by having a long drive and a closest to the pin. Sounds fun , enjoy.

I like to play 2 ball ambrose with some social golfers, this quickens up play and if the partners aren’t that good they don’t get as frustrated because they aren’t hitting from the trees all the time etc… we just toss balls for partners.

It also spreads out the losses at the 19th…

As for handicaping or whatever for betting, let the most experienced golfer be the captain of the team and he can make most of the decisions, after discussion of course.

Play skins, that always seems to be a popular one…not so good if you are playing ambrose but if you are playing individual stroke then it will quicken up play because players will most likely drop out when they are losing a hole.

3 bad shots and 1 good shot is still a 4....
Golf is played in a very small area, the 6 inches between your ears...

Big Easy
try this,
1st person on the green gets a point
Person closest to the pin (when all on) gets a point
1st person in the cup gets a point.
so 3 points available on each hole. Doesn’t matter how you get there.
At the end you add up points and pay $1 for every point to your mates. Obviously if you have all the points you don’t pay much. This dollar value can be any amount. Has to be decided before play
Closest to pin is the next i would include. couple $$ each.
Good luck

“Gotta put dole forms in”

I think they call that one “bingo bango bongo”

I reckon the 2 man ambrose played in a match play format. don’t draw for partners, put the best golfer with the worst ; second best with second worst; etc.

I’ve had to do this before and i works pretty well.
