Argh. No golf for 6 weeks

So frustrating. Just getting t the stage where I am playing good golf and aiming to get my handicap back down to 12, and I had to have my gall bladder out. No golf for 6 weeks. No cycling or serious pilates for 6 weeks as well. There is a good side – no gardening for 6 weeks. I can start putting in about a fortnight – that gives me a chance to work on a couple of technique issues. I can start chipping in 3-4 weeks if I take it easy. But no body rotation until July. One thing I might look at during this time is to do some hand/finger exercises with a club to strengthen my fingers. Anybody else been in a similar situation? Any advice on things to do so that I don’t totally lose my golf feel?

Can’t really help Duke but I was in a similiar position for a period of 12 months and all I can say is that I came back a better golfer mentally because of the time I devoted to reading every golf book under the sun…....... Believe me it really helps. Good luck.

Hey Duke I’m in the same situation. Had a hernia done last week and can’t move about much. That’s why I got involved here. I’m sitting on my arse for a few weeks so the computer is one of my few companions along with the TV. About 8 months ago I had the appendix out and found that within 15 days I could do some light chipping and putting, nothing too strenuous. It could give you an opportunity to work on these sorts of things to make them a real strength to your game. As for the other parts, well time heals all wounds. Just take it easy and enjoy the rest. I know I will. I’m a competitive runner so there’ll be none of that for weeks. And when I finally do get back it will be months before I regain my fitness and speed. Just have to cop it on the chin. Anyway, good luck with the recovery.
