Discussion for Moore Park, Pymble in Pennant Final

Going for the photos…looks like they were playing in the country as opposed in Sydney….sheep, sheep and more sheep.

Camden Lakeside.. Campbelltown/Macarthur district.. home of the Merino if you remember you Australian History.

I hear that its a great course, never played it, but all reports say it’s a corker.

Not bad at all the trick is to negotiatethe links style layout from the tee, then the greens with one or two exceptions are really quite flat.. hit it close round there and you can make quite a few birdies for sure..

It’s a reasonable course. Nothing great, but worth a hit.

I suggest you play it soon, as it will be redeveloped in the next few years & the course may suffer a lot. Possibly shorting to a sub 70 par.

Moore Park I hear have brought in all these outsiders…to play, like Grant Scott….who’s from Nelson Bay north of Newcastle…

not that there is anything wrong with that as all clubs do that now.

Anyone know who’s who with Pymble? ie. who is a ring-in?

Moore park should smoke them, there budget is insane, there entire teams comes from up north.

Moore Park 5-2

Its a weak attempt to raise the profile of the game in NZ ;-)

About 2 years ago an official from Moore Park told a mate of mine their budget was 25K for the pennant season.

I play regularly with a player from the moore park pennant team and he doesnt get any financial support besides some minor money for petrol (he drives down about 3 hours).

You reckon that Pymble doesn’t fork out a bit of $$$$$$$ to get the pennant team they want.

Pymble will get slaughted this weekend….......agree.

I thought all Pennant Players get is a free shirt, cap and a ball for their efforts; and a free lunch and piss after each match!

Who knows what Clubs fork out to their main players…but I doubt that all Moore Park gives, is “minor money for petrol”..

I don’t see the point of winning the Pennant with players that aren’t “real” members of the club.

Sounds like the Sydney to Hobart where some rich dude pays a professional sailor and crew to race his boat while he acts as ballast then accepts the trophy for winning the race when all they did was pay the bills.

BTW, I’ve played Pennant on and off for over 20 years and one of the few clubs I’ve seen win without mass imports is Killara who won 3 years running from 1990 to 1992.

with you all the way…

Concord is a prime offender of the great “buy-in”.....

Another club that builds up its players and trains them without “imports” is St Michael’s.

SUnday evening…anyone know who won?

next weekend champ… they have a week off for mothers day.

Concord certainly are not the biggest offender, they only have 1 player every year bought in.

Who then tops the list in Sydney?

Moore Park?

we know it’s not Royal Sydney!

It’s not on until next weekend, I hope Sydney airport is shutdown on Saturday and Pymble wins by walkover.

A few years ago when Cronulla won their first Pennant, a speaker at the Pennant dinner remarked that they held their team meetings at the Qantas Club and the room erupted in laughter.

R..now we know the main culprits of the “import”....Cronulla…guys from Tamworth etc regulars…

cold hard mercenaries like these wouldn’t have mothers would they?

I don’t know (or really care) but given the state of golf in NSW wouldn’t you think any club run by people with 1/2 a brain would see that the Major Pennant is a joke and invest the money in their juniors or improving their course.

There’sr too many fat useless club directors who think that winning the Major Pennant will fulfill their own unremarkable golfing careers.

BTW, guess which club the President of NSWGA happens to belong to …............. uh Moore Park, go figure.

I got to say…Pymble Golf Club is a course that is very over rated…..

I’ll go as far to say “goat-track”.....houses metres away from the fairways, dangerous tee boxes where you run the risk of being connected…terrible…and then there’s the snobs of Sydney’s North Shore…what a combination.

Moore Park will crush them.

Who won? BTW Owl you are not a good judge of a golf course that’s all I’ll say…

Billy Dunk is my hero...

Moore Park won 5/2.
