Yesterday I played in the Adelaide Golf Links Pro-am with the Blade. Let me tell you now, it ranks up there with the greatest golfing experiences I have had – alongside playing at the Old Course and caddying for Stuart Appleby at the SA Open.
If you’ve checked his website, you’ll see that he finished 1 Under, and won a small amount of cash. Had it not been for 3 bogeys and 2 broken clubs in the first 6 holes, he could have been much lower.
Highlight – Blade going birdie-par-par-birdie-birdie-birdie through the turn to get to 1-under, including a 300 metre drive at the first (our 10th hole of the day)!
Lowlight – mate, you’ve got to control that temper… Clubs don’t react too well to tree trunks and tree roots.

All-in-all, a good day was had by all! I would recommend to everyone, if you get the chance to play in a Pro-Am, or to play with the Blade, go for it!

So which clubs broke…sounds like anger issues, not club face cracks like it has been in the past?

The Blade is a top young fella. You saw something rare if a club got bent as his head is usually pretty in the right mental slot:)

Pity he is not heading to WA as the pitiful handfuls of change just do not meet the expenses to play this far away from home.

OK, I’ll come clean. Both breakages where in the process of hitting a shot. First one up against a skinny tree – you should have played it right handed. Bye-bye 8 iron. Second one against a tree root – bye bye 9 iron. I’ve never know anyone be sooo unlucky with trees – every time he got near a tree it was a right-handers shot – Blade being a left hander was your problem! And the one time you did get the correct side of the tree, you found the only fallen branch in the area – and couldn’t move it!

You are right Guru – he is a terrific young fella. He did keep his head despite losing those 2 clubs in the first 6 holes. He was not on song, but still made a great recovery after that. It truely was a real pleasure to meet him and even more so to play with him.

I think Adelaide Shores is a bit easier. Wide open fairways and large greens. Overall it’s in better condition, so you get better lies and the greens roll better which makes it easier to shoot lower scores.
