Dear all,

If you have been recently to Thailand, Vietnam etc and have played a few rounds, stayed on course or whatever, I would greatly appreciate your advice. The missus and I are intending on heading OS in June, would love some (any) advice on golfing holidays in SE Asia.

Thanks in advance.

ATGTT

Absolutely overwhelmed with info here guys and girls…surely some of you have been on holidays recently to Thailand, Vietnam etc and can report back? good or bad all welcome!

ATGT. All the courses in Phuket are worth playing. Google up Thailand Golf and go berserk, there are bucket loads. Have played Blue Canyon and Red Mountain, in Phuket. Both are awesome. Don’t know much about Vietnam, but apparently it has some lovely courses as well.

The key to success is to learn to do something right, then do it right every time. Oh I wish.....

Have played red mountain, blue canyon-lakes course, loch palm in phuket all three great courses, pattaya- played st andrews 2000, emerald, laem chabang. Played also courses in bangkok, chang mai, and chang rai and not found a bad golf course in thailand.

Im also looking at heading to phuket. blue canyon is where i think ill stay using the 3 days 2 nights package. has anyone stayed there?

Best bet to find out about golf in phuket is to look up phuket golf dot com we booked our courses through them the day before we wanted to play on the phone and didnt have a problem getting on at the times we wanted to. You can also do it before you leave oz if you want they tell you all about the courses, whether there is buggies or not, wether its one person per buggy or two as some over there only allow caddy and golfer to buggy not two golfers. You will always have caddies. Brad havent stayed there but have a big brochure on the place and it looks pretty damn good. If your gonna do it by phone over there your better off taking unlocked phone and putting a thai prepaid sim card in it. Cost are a lot less to ring there and back to Oz than using a Oz sim card. Any more information and I will help you where I can

Great guys, please any more tips/traps, greatly appreciated.

How about Bali?

Bali – Same same but different…. Nirwana I would select as the pick of the lot, followed by Lombok Kosaido – Handara Kosaido – Bali Golf & Country Club. If you want a cheaper round Bali Grand, but it doesn’t really compare to the others. Depending on where you are staying, it can take a couple of hours to get to these courses.

Average price is about $US160/180 with cart. Includes a caddy, but you normally give them a bit extra anyway.

thanks all, great feedback

I’m going to Phuket in two weeks. I might have to check some of these out. Thanks all.

Anyone going to Thailand particularly Pattaya should look up or hook up with a bar that has daily golf trips.. Join the Pattaya Sports Club (even for only a year) and in three trips with the players from any of the bars, you will have saved the cost of the membership from the member discount that local courses offer to PSC members..

need more info? just google pattaya sports club, or read the local newspaper pattaya mail and check out their sports section for their golf coverage around the local bars to familiarise yourself with some of the names.

Living in and around Thailand for a few years, this is simply the cheapest way to go about it.. forget about any organised group tour way too expensive.. stick with a local friendly bar and you can’t go wrong..

Sabah on Malaysia’s east peninula isn’t a bad golf destination.

Dalit Bay at the Rasa Ria the only one I’ve played personally which was great and a good resort to boot.

Played Phuket County Club not bad either and a bit cheaper than Blue Canyon.
