CAMDEN LAKESIDE

I have a copy of a plan of a subdivision within the camden lakeside course
there are plans for 400 houses which will greatly change the layout of the course
As best as i can dtermine the par is reduced to 68
from 72
there will be massive chnges to holes with some being removed completely
On the plan the back nine looks like this
3,4,3,3,4,3,5,4,4,
seems to belittle the beast somewhat.
I would also suggest that they are kidding themseleves if they expect keen golfers to layout big bucks to buy a house / land and get a par 68 in return
As it is now its a great test of golf in top nick ,looks like will drop right out of any serious rankings when development is finished
If you go to Camden Councils website and follow links for developments you can bring up the proposed layout

I am playing the monster in a months time….

great course and a shame to see it being chopped up… fond memories of the pretty tough coolum’esque closing hole.

The stats say that only 30% of the purchasers of such homes actually play golf…. the rest buy so they are not built out…

Oh well, plenty of choice out that way for golf courses.

who needs driver when a 3 wood will do???

I agree. Its a great track, seems a shame to rip it up. Money makes the world go around though!

Yeah shame to rip it up, its not like theres a shortage of available land out that way.

great track???? nice track and be good if they manicured it more than once every 2 weeks..not a sign of greenstaff mid week early morning…I let the pro know how poor I tho it was but owner sup only interested in the developments…....
hot bar staff must be said tho and nice clubhouse…..wudnt pay more than 40 dollars next time

I agree with this assessment. The nearby Macquarie Links makes CL look like a goat track in terms of conditioning.

That may be true – but it’s quite the reverse in terms of design.

CL is a pretty decent layout – I dont have an issue with them selling off some land but if they turn it into a P68 – I doubt if I will be venturing out there as much as I do.

I had’nt played CL for over a year & didnt relize they had let it go, hence I wont be rushing back. Thanks for the heads – up whosback72 & chevychase. I played Macquarie Links Oct last year & thought the Greens were some of the best I have ever putted on.

I dont think they have let the course go at all
i drive past daily and the greens and fairways look brilliant
i have also used the practice fairway and green about 4 weeks ago and they were in very good shape and the tee square greens and fairways around that area looked very good
the big problem with macquarie links is that the majority of golfers cant get on
i wonder how long before they get into some difficulties financially
