Any body actually been hit by a golf ball?
I got hit about 50mm above left nipple, It was bizzare as i saw it coming real fast but it seemed like slow motion at the time. I realisd it was going to hit me but i sort of froze.
I was standing slightly forward of player but way off to his right near the rough. (It came off the toe, BIG TIME) Was a 3 wood. Was lucky didn’t hit me in the face. Got a huge bruise,
Hurt too. Put him off his game.

See other thread about witnessing a guy getting hit in the nuts.

The fake Firey was just keeping the seat warm for me.

I got hit in the back of the head a couple of months back, a guy was hitting from a bunker, I was on the next tee..the guy missed the green by a good 30m…got a flyer and the ball ricoched off about 40m..ended up with mild concussion that lasted about a week. At the time it didn’t really hurt, and the guys I played with thought it had hit a tree…but the next day it was a real throbber.

I had a mate that hit a tree, the ball came back and got him fair in the goolies…no permanent damage and gave us a good laugh for a number of weeks.

A bad day at golf is better than a good day at work.

I got hit on the shin by a drive on Friday
the guy knew I was there but didn’t yell even though he hooked onto the fairway I was on, I don’t know if i would have had time to react even if he did.
it was on the bounce luckily but I still have a bruise.

I got hit on the shoulder on the second green at Kingston Heath about 12 months ago. Another guy and I hit our second shots to the green and the third guy in our group was about 100m out and his ball was buried in the left rough (deep). We began walking to the third tee and then back to the green. The third guy was still stuffing around so we went and marked our balls. Then I head ‘fore’ and the third guy’s ball hit me flush on the right shoulder and ran off the green. The third guy came running up and was very apologetic until he realised his ball had run off the green and he cracked it. Then he proceeded to wipe the hole. To this day I still believe that no-one could have advanced the ball 100 from his original lie in the rough and he must have improved the lie when we were walking up to the green. The fact that he wiped the hole, to me is karma! And being hit didn’t hurt anyway :)

June 2007 … I got hit by a golf ball on the pitching practice green. I was practicing my pitching then this guy came along with his two little daughters. I thought I better move in front of them closer to the green because I was afraid I might hit his daughters because they were mucking around infront of me. Before proceeding, I watched him shoot some pitching shots, they were good and I thought I’d be safe.

A few minutes later, I got whacked by a golf ball as I was collecting my balls from the green. It hit me in the head above the right temple. It was an excruciating throbbing PAIN!!!!! It was very painful and a few seconds later blood started to drip. I was shocked! Then the same guy came running towards me and kept on saying sorry. Shock turned to anger. I wanted to punch him but his children were around. I regretted that split second decision eversince.

Then I was taken to hospital and received three stitches. Luckily no concussion or head injury just a minor cut.

i was playing with a mate one day, and we were behind a pair playing matchplay, saw one walk into the sticks, waited for them to move on, after a few mintues we saw one player next to the green, mate hits off and puts it in the trees, and wouldn’t you kno it, the other player in front is about 75m behind his opponent, ball struck him on the hand on the full, instant bruising and at a guess a broken bone.

I got a bad one in the ribs as a kid. Full blooded drive out of the heal, wrong place wrong time.I copped one on the forehead that required a few stitches, but the worse was a rebound. My playing partner nailed an advertising sign on the side of the tee. It came back low & hot & copped me in the ankle. I limped up to play my second which was a pretty straight forward pitch of 60 yards. Stiffed it, tap in birdie. 2 under after 12 & had to walk (limp) off & had another trip for some X-rays.

The worse wasgetting hit in the shins by a ball out of a bowling machine. No pads on, I almost threw up. Still can’t figure out how it didn’t snap my leg.

Cheers
Gerard

My dog got hit a while ago. He let out a big yelp when he got hit and wimpered for a while. Had a good sized lump for about a week.

I was very lucky as a kid, standing to the side of my mate about 10cm in front of him and about 4m to his left (he was left handed) and he has flushed one off the toe at head height. INcrediably i had my driver over my shoulder and it hit flush in the middle of the shaft of the driver right in front of my head. Just before he hit it i’d been thinking I should move, but dismissed it as no one could be that bad to hit it that far right!

PLayed with a guy in Canberra who was playing his first game in 3 years after being hit flush in the head with a drive from an opposite fairway, he’d lost half a dozen teeth in the process. He was very skittish whenever someone called Four!!

Got hit in the lower back from a guy who took a full swing with a fairway wood while i was standing about 15metres ahead of him. The ball was moving at a pretty fast pace.
He sliced it big time and the ball came around that quick that I didn’t even have time to react.
Brought a couple of tears to my eye. Stung like hell and bruised up nicely.

Got hit during a corporate day last year at Macquarie Links. Took it flush just above the kidney as I put my putter in the bag. If my arm wasn’t raised up it would have taken out my elbow.

It was a drive off the adjacent tee by Australian Long Drive Champ Mark Bylsma.

I got hit on the rear end by a low flying stray 3 wood… Not the most fun. Still finished my round of course, just limped a lil :)

1-L, it is all there my friend.

I’ve been hit in the head while putting by someone playing on the opposite fairway. Hurt like hell, left me with a splitting headache for days afterward and basically ended any enjoyment I would have had that round.

I am really amazed how many have been hit by golf balls.
Especially in the the head. One of my closest friends father in law has only 1 eye left. Yep golf ball got the other one.
I spose the more time spent playing means the odds are stacked against you.

Sad one…when I was young I was practicing on on our designated practice area…a friend’s dad was also practicing there. He hit his balls went to go and get them and said “better walk up the tree line, Bill (can’t actually remember they guys name) can’t hit to save himself”....he got about 50 metres up the fairway and Bill hit a ball that got him in the sternum…he had a heart-attack and went to hospital…he never recovered and passed away a few days later….very sad

A bad day at golf is better than a good day at work.

been hit twice…..both times my own shot straight into a tree and back at me…once in the wrist the other in shin which stung a bit I might add

never been hit by anyone else….never hit anyone (that I knoiw of)

I got hit a while back, was playing with a mate who skulled a PW from the other side of the green to me, he yelled fore and I instinctively turned away, and the ball got me in the top of the neck. Put me down, lucky I turned or I would have caught it in my teeth.

There’s a hawk no longer with us that Trip Isenhour whacked with a ball. Hope he enjoys his jail time.

Saw the result a few years ago. 2 kids in a park behind my house – not supposed to play golf there. I’d told them a few minutes earlier to get away from the houses so they knew I was home. Next thing, there’s this kid with the outline of a 4 iron in his forehead & blood running down his face & his mate calling out from the fence…. “lady, hey lady”. He survived, thanks to the ambos I called & I never saw either one in the park again.

They called it golf because all the other good four letter words were taken.

Ages ago I was at a pro shop and a lady came in and said she had been hit by a golf ball,the pro asked “where did you get hit’she said “between the 1st and 2nd holes”he said”your stance is too wide” :}

I can move the ball both ways..... I just don't know when.....

Being hit in the knee-cap ain’t fun from experience. I was on crutches for weeks.
