If you could make golf your living and win shit loads of money hitting a ball around, what would you do with it? Would it change the way you think, would it change the way you are, would it change your life, would you be able to cope with it, would you be able to have a “normal life” but what is a normal life? If you are paid to use something and do not like it, what do you do?

I think those of us that haven’t been there wouldn’t have the foggiest what it is about… From what I have heard it can be a hard life. Having said that if I was good enough to win big money (sshh Socks and Mydogs..) then I think it would be a very cool way of life.

We mere mortals can only dream about such things.

A bad day on the golf course is better than no golf at all. :(

yeah i can imagine that playing golf for a living must be so hard.

When you are at the top end it seems easy… But for the battler, living out a suitcase, real pressure to play well or else you cannot afford to enter the next tournament. Of course thats just what I have heard. There are some on these forums who are better qualified than I to answer that so hopefully they will let us know what is what (Tiger, if you are out there, let us know what its like on top).

I think it comes down to perspective…I have travvelled a fair bit..I met some people who were quite poor financially from Papua New Guinea..they earnt about 10 dollars Australian a day

I have met some people who make $2000 a day

gues who I would rather share an evening meal with?...the poor talked about life and experience…the rich complained they were poor and paid far too many taxes yet they drove the latest BMW’s!!

money does change people…and not always for the best!!

if your not happy being paid for golf is nothing to do with the golf or the pressure its down to individuals and they way they value life and what life is meant to be about

so John (Daly) how did you make a 14?....well i missed the putt ior a 13 dickhead

Being a professional….a dream!!!

I love the game, and to play it for a living would be amazing…is it ever going to happen…no!!!

I understand that for every guy out there making a killing from golf there are probably 5 or 10 guys that are battling on small time tours or teaching part time to get some cash. Would I like to be a battler….to be honest, I probably dont have what it takes…would I like to be a top 50 player….you bet!!!

Srixon i-701 Tour irons are HERE!!!!!

Guys is a nice feeling to be there, but for the average old battler a very hard life, And the sad part is most the battlers are just as good as the top boys but never got the lucky break. These days there’s thousands of talented players.

I also think it would be a hard life.
The work required to stay at the elite level would be extremely hard. I am not saying that hard work is necessarily a bad thing but I think it would spoil the whole point of golf for me. Golf for me is a personal challenge but more importantly a social game where you can spend a day outside with others of varying levels and enjoy a beer at the end.

If I was good enough to make $30,000-$40,000 a year profit I would be happy playing for a living as you could supliment that income by giving lessons etc.

To make that sort of profit you need to pull in some pretty serious cash though.

down and out…did ya get that?

i know many guys and a few mates took the jump n went professional….and the end of the day they couldnt win a thing really as an amateur so if they were to live off winnings they’d have starved to death by now…...
in general ul know if u can make a living off it…..

I saw an interview with Adam Scott a while ago and he was asked “do you think that this tricky little cross-slope 3 footer is for $350,000 or do you try to think it is just another putt”.He replied with something like that you can only think that it is just another putt or you wouldn’t be able to pull the trigger. We mortals think that the return 2footer to avoid the snake is pressure or a 4 footer to win a voucher is character building,I reckon if I had to putt every week to keep food on the table I would be mad or a prozac fanatic after a year.

My opinion is not necessarily the popular one :)

You don't hit anything on your back swing so why rush it!!!!

I’d to the same thing I do now. Travel, snowmobile, , go for long drives, ski, golf, bike, rock climb, etc. etc. etc.
