GolfLink and GolfLink Mates

I just got an email from GolfLink about an upgrade of the functionality on the site. They’ve added lots of stats and the ability to add mates and compare stats. They have also added the ability to input the various stats like GIR, FIR, Putts, SS, and UD for each of your rounds.

But all this comes at a cost, 60c per week, (they have a free trial period at the moment).

So has anyone else seen this, what do you think, and is it worth paying for the extra features?

Ditto

One of my mates is head of IT, or helpdesk… or something like that at Golflink so he got me to beta test the golflink mates thing. It ain’t bad. I wouldnt pay for it, and there is no official way to know that peoples stats aren’t being faked. Is still a good way to keep in touch with mates from golf however. I see it as like a golflink community, which is exactly what golflink needed.

Why on earth would you charge for something like that – those guys really need a reality check

Exactly. Once teetimes are out (if they ever come out 8-D) they will be much better than anything ive seen at golflink.

IMO the quicker Golf Australia take back the ownership of Golf Link the better. There is seriously so much they could do with that site. They are so out dated.

It’s like charging to use those social sites like Facebook and MySpace. If they did no one would sign up. It wouldn’t have cost them much to set up anyway (a couple of guys locked away in a room), gees, I could have set it up for them if they asked (and paid me enough!) :))

Couldn’t agree more LintzMan

Problem with Golf Link is that they are for ever trying to find other ways to commercialise the site and they simply have no idea.

You just have to look at the tee booking system they are trying to promote. Talk about a half ass job. Seriously bad.

Then there is the vouchers, a straight out rip job from ISG.

PINGZING – I though Golf Link was Golf Australia… what’s the score…..

I also looked at it & decided that even at the low price it was a total waste of money.

A bad day on the golf course is better than no golf at all. :(

The Menace

My understanding is that Golf Australia have licensed the handicapping system out to a private company – Golf Link Partners – to represent on GA’s behalf.

I would have to agree with most of the posters here that Golf Link are past their used by date. In fact, I think they don’t do any favours for Golf Australia, PR wise or financially. Me thinks GA should look for new partners or expect higher standards from current partners.

could not agree more..

tee-times is great on this site, no ‘sign-up’ charges and easy to use.

Golf link attempt , would not wast my time. I stay with iseekgolf

not for me either.
cheers peter

Golf link site is just so lumpy.

No smooth lines and looks like its stuck back in the 90’s.

How on earth can they charge for any service is more the question!

GA heading down another disaster with IT if it stays with Golf Link Partners.

it certainly is not up there, that’s for sure.

as to demanding payment?

would not waste my pennies

I logged on to Golf Link this morning to see how I went compared to the rest of the field in Saturday comp.
The only way I can do that now is to take up the offer of their 45 day free trial and then pay their fee to continue seeing the overall results.
I am already paying Golf Link in my annual club membership, I wont give them any more money.

I sent them an email via their feedback saying I wont pay twice.
Perhaps we all should be doing that and just maybe they might get the message.

Hopefully one day all that data will be in the hands of someone who knows what to do with it all.

I really can;t believe in the day and age they are trying to charge you for such information – it’s like they’re caught in 1997.

At least they seem willing to listen.

Same email I got too…..

Maybe a rote email to anyone that disagrees with what they are doing.

I wont be giving them my phone number but did take a minute to reply to them.

I really don’t feel there is anything to discuss. Golf Link has made its
decision to charge us to see how we went compared to the rest of the field, as that would be the only area that I would look at and to charge me 60 cents a week to do that is ridiculous. I have made my decision not to open the Golf Link page.

If we want to check out the results of a comp we played in we can simply check the results section on our clubs website (for free!!)

Nice one Whackfluck – what’s there to discuss – nothing. Remove the 60 cents and everyone will be happy. Such a stupid idea but nothing surprises us with Golf Link.
