Bowral Country Club in the NSW Southern Highlands town of Bowral is a reciprocal club of Queanbeyan GC.

Esperance GC had reciprocal rights with Pink Lake GC (in Esperance also) though we gave then the flick because their membership structure undercut ours. Our committee are always thinking (not!)

Reciprocal rights is death for a golf club.. You don’t pay you don’t play AFAIC.. I don’t know of a club that builds any component of reciprocity into their annual costs, yet many clubs still observe the practice. That cost is then borne by members. I hear howls of protests from the like that so.. “but you’ll never fill your comps”.. well you’re right, but I’d rather get 20 guys paying comp plus green fee than 50 who are not.

Hi, I am a member of Queanbeyan and the list of our reciprocal clubs is in the member only area, weird is it not. There are about 60 clubs listed, the majority in NSW. Yet to use any of the reciprocal rights so not sure how much they exist but supposedly full member rights.

I was watching a travel holiday show on TV, they were playing at Coober Pedy in outback Sth Australia. The course resembles playing on the moon. It was stated during the program that the members of the Coober Pedy GC have reciprical rights with St Andrews. Not sure if this is still the case.

Penrith also a reciprocal club of Queanbeyan GC

dont think it is fair to say reciprocals are a pain – they are or at least were designed to fulfill a specific purposes; to allow members to travel and play and to allow members to move interstate and jump waiting lists and nomination fees. So of course if a club has no waiting list or nom fee and allows public play anyway, then yes the point of reciprocal arrangements is lost a bit. But it is very strong in the “magic circle” clubs. The top 10 or 12 clubs in the country have very tight and rather incestuous relationships with each other that allows members to move around and basically just transfer membership as they shift cities.
