The ISG Tour takes a swing through Tampa Bay Florida this week, site of the PODS Championship. What’s a PODS you ask? Portable On Demand Storage, right. Here’s the field… Heads up that Calcavecchia and van Pelt won the pro-am. And Calcavecchia won it last it year. You must have your ISG Tipping entry in before the first tee time to be eligible for scores for this tournament. First tee time is 7 am Thu morning Florida local, which works out to around 11 pm Thu night Aus East Daylight time. Please post your entries here: Entries Full rules, comments and questions here: Main Competition Thread Existing entrants pllease check the Changes topic to see if you are qualified to enter.
Reverse every natural instinct you have and do just the opposite of what you are inclined to do and you will probably come very close to having a perfect golf swing. - BEN HOGAN, POWER GOLF |

Looks like picking Stewart Cink may work for me. -5 and one off the lead after his first round :) With DJ going well too, surely I’m near the top this time!

Yes Styles, you are near the top. But a few had an even better opening round… Three of our more recent entrants top the PODS Leaderboard at -10: Toto: Appleby -4 Senden -4 Snedeker -2 Weir DNP terrys: Kenny Perry -5 Appleby -4 Goosen -1 Matt Jones -1 Sidman: Cink -5 Appleby -4 Jason Day -1 Ames Ev Rain delays have taken a big cut out of the playing schedule though, so these results are very preliminary. -10 Toto terrys Sidman

PODS Championship Second Round – Provisional Scores Update Well, he’s been talking the talk lately, but finally it looks like Styles is letting his clubs do the talking. He’s jumped out to a three stroke lead, although the second round is still incomplete due to persistent rain delays. Styles: D.J. Trahan -5 Chopra -3 Cink -3 Nathan Green +2 = -11 Scoring has been tough, and most entrants have slipped backwards. The cut line has been tentatively drawn at +1, but this could change given the number of players still halfway through their rounds (or worse). There have been 4 withdrawals: Kevin Na, Mark Hensby, Bo Van Pelt and Brad Adamonis. -11 Styles

lol +32 my team has played almost half a round again, imagine my score if I had a full team running
|

PODS Championship Third Round – Provisional Scores Update Scoring at the PODS was diabolical again, and the cut ended up at +3. Only nine players are currently under par for the tournament, but once again there are a few players still with a few holes to play. -5: Cink Styles lead has sadly proved short-lived, with Trahan and Chopra both crashing to +3. That leaves MJT as one of the few sub-par entries. He’s had a terrible season to date, with four straight DQs – a win here will put him into the top five quick smart though… MJT: Cink -5 Snedeker -3 Nathan Green +2 Chopra +3 = -6 There two others with their heads above water… glenn_18: Snedeker -3 Calcavecchia -1 Paul Casey +1 Nick O’Hern +5 = -3 -6 MJT

the weather is to be much better today. I’m predicting Trahan, Green and Cink to bounceback and give me a maiden victory.

god damn it! Another win for one of the God Squad. Well done Sean. Didn’t see the full collated scores but it would seem my men were all in reverse! Bah!

PODS Championship – Final Scores Update Scoring was a bit healthier in the final round of the PODS. Steve Stricker posted a 66, while John Senden and Nick Watney both posted 67s. Sean O’Hair was the winner, a 69 enough to get him past a bunch of players heading in the opposite direction – Ogilvy and Cink both posted 74s. Toto did similarly, sitting quietly in T4 at even par at the start of the last round, but he picked up three shots to be the only sub-par entry in the entire ISG field. Not a bad effort considering he only had three players. Toto was 20th on the money list coming into the PODS with 1 cut from 2 events, but is now firmly in the top 5 overall. Toto: Senden -2 Snedeker -1 Appleby Ev Mike Weir DNP = -3 MJT’s breakthrough victory eluded him, but after 4 DQs I’m sure he will be happy to pick up a nice big fat cheque all the same. He’s been quietly tinkering with his squad and had them playing good solid golf for an even par result. MJT: Cink -2 Snedeker -1 Nathan Green +3 Chopra +4 = Ev Third place was tied between chris9485 and Beno at +3, but Beno clinches the last Vision prize pack on countback – he posted +2 in the final round, while Chris posted a +6. Beno: Cink -2 Allenby +1 Chopra +4 Woody Austin DNP = +3 Congratulations to everyone else who made the cut at +11, and commiserations to those that missed or DQed. The top eight on the ISG Tipping Money List all went away empty handed, proving how tough it is to stay competitive week in, week out on the tour. -3 Toto

Geez, went from -6 after the 2nd round, to +7 after the third! Least I made some money. When does the cheque arrive? ; )
1-L, it is all there my friend. |

MrC – After your caddie, the taxman, your bank manager and your missus take their cuts, you’ll be left with sweet FA.

Sigh.. Looks like I’ll have to make it for real then before I see any of those novelty sized cheques..

Some extra notes: Styles is the only player to make the cut in all 5 events this season. That consistent grinding from this tour journeyman has put him in 10th place on the money list with $714,500. His best pickup is $250,000 at the Buick. He is 4th on tour scoring at 71.5. Toto has the best average of 71.0 after 3 events, and Dowls and rebjon are eq. 2nd with 71.4 Congratulations to the following entries who have picked up ISG Prize Money for the first time this season: MJT, Beno, Sidman, MrConsistency (yay), GoonerAl.

This tipping comp requires more brain power than picking a shot in an ambrose comp. well done Muntz on organising and calculating the results. I am going to play the whole season with my picks so do not expect any changes from my team of Appleby, Cink, J Day and Ames.
who needs driver when a 3 wood will do??? |
|
Well Sidman, not a bad strategy as those players are now worth 11.06 ranking points…

So you don’t need to keep under 10 points?

Could our three winners (Toto, MJT and Beno) please email me your details: Name, Address and Phone so that Boz can send you your prizes…! Send your details to amunter at hotmail dot com. This assumes you have an Aus address, I don’t think we are doing international deliveries of the prize packs.

Only (a) when you enter and (b) when you make changes to your squad. If you leave the squad as is you don’t need to worry about their total value. Read Rule 2 on the main competition thread.

Hey Mr C looks like we get to share that B##ger all evenly. I reckon this tipping game is easy (HA-HA) Lot like golf , builds you up then knocks you down again.
A bad day on the golf course is better than no golf at all.

Snedeker was in the team for the first 3 placegetters. Appleby must be the leading Aussie on Tour for the year. (Muntzy – are there any scoring stats on the Aussies?)

Here’s a scoring average breakdown for the PGA Tour: Scoring Average Snedeker has had a reasonably quiet year, T75 for scoring at 70.64, I was on the verge of replacing him. But he’s made 6/8 cuts and has 3 top 10 finishes. Apples has been very hot this season, with 5/5 top 10 finishes, and is 3rd on the Tour for scoring (19 rounds at 68.99) FBR T4, Northern Trust T7, Buick T8, Matchplay T9, PODS T10 Allenby is also pretty useful (69.55) and 5 events in the top 25 or better, best result T4 at the Honda. Matt Jones is great value, with a World Golf Ranking of 165, but he’s made 7/7 cuts and has a scoring average of 69.75. Senden has 6/7 cuts and two top 10s.

what a weekend! Stewart Sank Still another cheque is another cheque and if the top 8 missed out, it means I’m closing the gap. Just goes to show those pampered prima donnas can’t play Jack once the wind gets up a bit.
