Does leaving clubs in boot of car do any harm to them? Apart from the obvious theft issues.

Hey Gotta, read the last page of this thread.

I leave mine in my boot but put padded (extra padding inside my bag head cover) this enables me to play a quick 9 when I get the chance
so John (Daly) how did you make a 14?....well i missed the putt ior a 13 dickhead |

leave mine in there all day everyday.
out of the sin bin & loving it! |

Winter thats OK. Summer time I spend too many hours glueing heads back on all sorts of clubs:)

I have heard bad things about leaving clubs in the car, but I don’t see there is a choice a lot of the time. I will go to work, then straight to the course afterwards, no time to go home in between. Maybe I have been lucky, haven’t had a failure as yet.
down and out…did ya get that? |

yeah the heat factor maybe a blanket over the clubs and bag would solve this

The release point for two-part epoxy is greater than 200C and you need a heat gun to pull a shaft … no car is going to get that hot. The only thing I can think of is that the heat cycles inside a car, which might go from 0-70C year-round in some Aussie climates, could crack the epoxy if the shaft and the head expanded and contracted at differing rates or amounts around the hosel. Otherwise I would have thought that the metals themselves, and the grips, would be quite inert.

Would be a good one for Myth Busters to do. The epoxy can eventually break down, goes brittle. I sure as hell learned not to talk on the phone and catch a head that was being pulled without a glove on fast…...sheer instinct made the unwanted catch.

living in queensland and only take the clubs out of the boot to play, my clubs have never snapped apart. Nathan

Yes the heat during summer can make it a bad idea. In SIngapore, my husband does that all the time and the ferrule came out!

My clubs live in my boot, never had a problem.

at last there is an advantage to the horrible cold of the UK. I hope all your clubs and balls and shoes melt! Did I mention its bloody freezing over here right now lol!
Its better to stay silent and look a fool, than to open your
mouth and remove all doubt |

I don’t like to leave my clubs in the boot – too scared of them getting stolen. Never thought about the heat effect before! Hey Styles -come to Adelaide. About to have our 9th consecutive day above 35c – and no relief in sight. The next 6 days are all forecast over 38c (thats 100F).

Funny thing happened in pennants for our club last year, a regular car booter had the head of his 3 wood fly off on his backswing and went through with the swing. A half hour of trying to get a ruling and stil no settlement. the oppo said you took an intentional swing, our club argued was it with a golf club? do not know the outcome but was also a 30 min search for the head as it went into the bush behind….
who needs driver when a 3 wood will do??? |
