I’ve been lucky enough to get an invite to play in the Pro Am at Moonah Links next week. I’ve never been to one before and I am just wondering what to expect.

Do they play off the back tees ?

I’m sure most amatuers take it serious, like playng for sheep stations, but do the pro’s take it easy getting in another round of practise ? and having a fun day out pleasing the sponsors.

I’m sure the course will be in great nick being a day before the tournament starts, but has anyone played it lately and got any tips for someone who has not played on the Open course before.

Will depend on the format. I played in one where we played what they called Texas Stableford. The pro was using it as a practice round but we all had a very enjoyable round. Depends a little on which pro you draw . Just go out & enjoy the round.

Very unlikley that you’ll play from the same tees. Just enjoy the day and don’t try and impress the Pro, he’s been there and done that.

Most Pro’s are good blokes who’ll have a chat and may offer some advice

What could be better than golf at a great course, lunch & beers and not having to pull the wallet out from your pocket all day.

Pity a taxi from Melbourne to Moonah links would cost about $ 300.00 each way.

Perhaps a hire car is the go then.

I’m actually driving down their Friday for a meeting but have to get back to the airport that night
