I’ve had a few moments with cars backfiring, plane engines starting up etc distracting me while putting, but nothing like this pic from GolfDigest at Pebble Beach:

It would put you off abit. Wonder if it’s real there doesn’t seem to be much swell in the background?

Looks like a photoshop job to me. Can’t see that green remaining there in such good nick with waves like that crashing up on such a fine day.

Golf can best be defined as an endless series of tragedies obscured by
the occasional miracle.

definitely a photoshop job :)
dont b fooled

If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ?
Square is Good ? Sure is, if it's the right stick !

i would suggest that the 6th green at N,S,W, would be very similar when the surf puts on a show

That photo is probably real. It is the Par 3 7th (100m) which juts out into the Pacific Ocean. The photo shows a large ground-swell line behind the wave that’s breaking. Any half decent swell from the SW will get into the small bay the course is built on.The photo will have been taken using a long lens which draws the foreground and background closer together to make it look more dramatic. Great shot.

Awesome picture, I found a picture of the hole from a different angle, which shows the rocks that the waves are crashing over are a bit further away than the camera makes them appear in the first picture.

As for keeping the green in good shape, I recon that pebble beach have enough money to spend on keeping it in good nic.

I played commonwealth in november last year. on the 18th green i had a 12ft putt for birdie. during my backswing a large branch snaped off one of the trees around the green and fell into the undergrowth. After i hit the ball my attention was taken to he nose of the crashing limb. when i looked back at the green the ball had disappeared in the hole for birdie and i shot had 74 off the stick. was very strange, not sure if the falling limb relieved my nerves or if i hit a good putt as i didnt see it go in the hole.
