am not talking about cyber golf but the real McCoy…

If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ?
Square is Good ? Sure is, if it's the right stick !

I would find another sport that offers similar challenges….when im done on golf Im sure lawn bowls will be an option

I know one thing if I couldnt play golf anymoreI would then have heaps of time on my hands and heaps of money…:)

so John (Daly) how did you make a 14?....well i missed the putt ior a 13 dickhead

good point, i havnt the chance to play lawn bowls
but i can jus imagine if u r a pretty good putter, u should b a pretty good bowler too ??
afterall both require pretty good feel/touch, distance and break reads on a pretty smooth grass surface.

Cry.. Then get more serious about my cricket. Probably take up soccer again.

Depends why you can’t play and how serious you are about your golf.

down and out…did ya get that?

Say If it’s a severe physical disability (illness or injuries),
i’ll take up theology (if my brain is still intact)
play more cyber golf (if my fingers can still do the walking)
spend more time with my family …...
basically keep myself distracted and pre occupied with other gainful occupations etc etc

If I lost an arm I woukld still play…if I was blind I would still play….if I was in a wheel chair I would still play…

only death would stop me from playing and Im sure there is golf course in heavan somewhere…its meant to be a big place so me thinks there would be

Funny you should ask that as I am going to go through an extended layoff for a second time. In a fortnight I have to have back surgery again and as before I will be doing physio and working on my fitness for 6 months and trying not to end up looking like Jabba the Hut do to boredom induced alcohol binges. But 12 months ,you would have to have a bad case of the yips to give up golf for 12 months,as a great player once said”Golf is like a love affair, don’t take it seriously it is no fun, take it seriously and it will break your heart”

You don't hit anything on your back swing so why rush it!!!!

I’d probably get something done around the house

It is only 2 weeks to go and I cannot wait to hang up the clubs and not play/teach golf for however long it may be. Give me an island resort, a few too many pina colada’s, beer, my guitar and no golf ball in sight for a while. If I could not play golf for a year, I would just go surfing and may well do so.

You are kidding yourself if you think you can make it without hard-work.

Ahh, but Tai, you’re a completely different kettle of fish. Most of us would love to have your job for a while, and then we too might enjoy the time away from golf.

If you were going to take a break from golf for a while, don’t you think you’d take a break from island resorts too? Or is it never possible to tire from those?

tai has refined the attitude of taking it easy …...after a hard day’s work
he seems to be a pretty well adjusted individual
good on him

I had to give the game away for about three years due to illness, injury & lack of interest.

It didn’t (really) bother me, my first had just been born & it was a great three years. I recouperated, spent a lot of time with the family & came back a better golfer, I now enjoy it more than ever & I halved my lowest handicap within a few months of returning.

It’s amazing how much you learn about playing golf from only watching & reading about the game alone.

It was all positive me thinks.

I haven’t played 18 holes of golf since Jan 11 2003. In that time I have played 9 holes on 4 seperate occasions. I went from being a pennant player who hit practice balls on Christmas Day to non golfer overnight.

To fill in time I have:
Started my own business, built it up from scratch & sold it.
Got married
Started having kids.
Moved house 5 times ( the last was inter-state)
Started & finished post grad uni.
I don’t watch golf on TV but will read a golf mag at the Dr’s waiting room if there is one there.

I got my competition fix from business, & then started playing cricket 2 seasons ago as I love cricket. My cricket goal is to have batting highest score higher than my golfing lowest score. This means I will have to play cricket next season.
This week I reckon I am a chance of sneaking 9 holes on a par 3 course as the start of my comeback.

I am looking forward to playing golf again, and putting in cards for a h’cap.

Cheers

What was the reason for the time off if you don’t mind me asking?

Sounded as if he was just simply too tied up with other areas in his life
ie too busy
