Be nice if the Article had the FINAL scores, not those after the first round! I’d like to see how Rebecca Coakley finished.

Shanky you mentioned Laura hit it long
just out of curios, how long is long for her average drives ?

average I would say 250m and all from knocking up the turf on the tee to sit the ball on. no tee it high for her, and her swing appears to be in constant motion compared to the other girls who are very stable in the base. At least I have something to strive for.

you mentioned ” all from knocking up the turf on the tee to sit the ball on. no tee it high for her”

does this mean literally like hitting it off the deck even with her big head Driver ??
unbelievable if this’s the case :P

her pre shot routine for the driver is … grab an iron from the caddy… take a whack at the ground ( hitting away from the hole) so the turf sits up almost like a wee ramp toward her driving line…. throw the club back to the caddy….then set the ball on the top of the tuft and swing away. Impressive to watch and no trouble getting a high ball flight when needed.

A mate of mine does it all the time on par 3’s, couldn’t believe it the first time I saw it.

par 3 for irons and even fairways is still pretty ok
but for a 460cc driver ??

goeez that’s got to take the carrot baby.

Be nice if the Article had the FINAL scores, not those after the first round! I’d like to see how Rebecca Coakley finished.

Rebecca Coakley faded in the final round with a 79. I watched her hit her wedges extremely thin and through the green a couple of times. Probably a few nerves there.

Overall I think she finished 35th.

Terrific for big Laura.

Couple of questions:

How many wins worldwise is she now on?

How many more does she need to get into the LPGA Hall of Fame?

It’d be a shame for her not to become a hall of famer.

I think thats win no 69, not sure how many you need to get in the LPGA Hall of fame but thats a mighty impressive record.

Thanks 777.

I played with her dad on Sat. and she “texted” him to say she’d had a good second round and was looking forward to the third round. Shame she couldn’t keep it up. Hopefully she’ll do better this week.

I don’t know if there is something wrong with me – but I reckon Laura is kind of hot!

Men who use coloured golf balls shall have their sexuality brought into question.

I took my father out on Saturday (he is a member out there).
What impressed me (apart from the attractive younger players)
was the ladies short game, very strong.
As for Laura, saw her hit 2 of the fatest shots i have ever saw on the 2nd and the 4th.
The second is a longish 172m par3, which she hit her tee shot maybe 120m with a 5iron, but she did chip to within a metre and sink her par putt.
The seventh is a short 264m par 4, but it is all uphill and the green sits around 30m above the tee. She plonked her drive about 8-10m from the green, backspun about 4 more down the hill, the preceding group just heard the ball land, looked around and shook their heads.
All in all, a top tournament that hopefully stays on the calendar the week before the Aus Open and maybe more national and international stars make the journey to Oatlands for a warmup.

Agreed, the Oatlands course looked to be in terrific shape, and played well on the Monday (day after the Final Round). It was a little disappointing to see how much some of the players (professionals) struggled around the layout. Obviously it was not a problem for Laura.

Nope! She’s actually an Irish-Aussie – she plays using her Irish passport to get better entry into European tour! Her dad is a member where I play (he’s pretty good too).
