Today at the 177m 7th at Echunga GC SA I ticked another item off of my list of golfing goals with an Ace. I will fall asleep with a huge stupid grin on my face tonight.

The beer was cold and free? Normally someone with an Ace has to shout the bar, not the other way round… But very well done, must be satisfying to get an ace with a pure shot. I had a mate who got one after bouncing off a steep slope 10m away from the hole and still told everyone about it for weeks afterwards…
Reverse every natural instinct you have and do just the opposite of what you are inclined to do and you will probably come very close to having a perfect golf swing. - BEN HOGAN, POWER GOLF |

My club president took the ball, they mount it on a trophy for presentation night.

Good on U ! I personally has never had one though. Still looking waiting for that Holy Grail on par 3s….
If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ? |

Muntz, i’ve heard so many people say that, but every club i’ve played out in the hills and country in SA have a mug that the person who gets the hole in one drinks from, when they want a refill they tap any member on the shoulder and the member buys them a drink.. It was my playing group and the couple groups around me that bought me a drink, i really didn’t mind, it was enough of a reward getting the ace. Certainly glad however that i didn’t have to empty my wallet.

Nice work…I am still searching for my first…only ever seen one. Bet it was hard to focus for the rest of the round after the 7th!

Congrats Chris, if a dodgy swing is a pre-requisite I’m half way there.

I’ve been playing golf for 23 years and had never had an ace (been unfortunately close far too many times). Then this year lightning struck TWICE in 2 months. !st was a 5 iron from 220 in a pro event that helped me to a runner up finish, but meant I had to buy 100 other golf pros a drink afterwards, & the 2nd one was an 8 iron that pitched an inch behind the hole in jumped staright back in – was surreal to watch as it happened so quick. My point is to everyone who hasnt had one – Take dead aim & keep the dream alive. To Chris Congratulations & I know that huge stupid grin you fell asleep with is irreplaceable & well deserved.

Well done Chris! I’ve had two (both on the same hole) but never in competition. The feeling is still sweet – you just don’t buy anyone any beer or get any prizes. In our club, the reward is half the pot in the twos club. You have to buy the bar a drink, but we have insurance that gives you £100 to cover the tab – most guys tell the bar staff to stop the tab at £100. If it was in a club competition with witnesses (As yours was) there are plenty of hole in one clubs online that send you lots of silly stuff you can put on your walls.

Congrats. I believe the person that the acer should really buy a drink for is the greenkeeper. ;)

Was it in a comp?
|
|
Yes it was in a comp, Stroke medal round. The only reason i finished the round was to hand in a legit card, i was almost close to hopeless for the rest of the round.

i guess you can finally say you put a ball EXACTLY where you were aiming it ;-) congratulations mate.
