I hit my driver about 240 with everything working. I think thats good when you look at Adam Scott who ave is 280 on the pga tour or Appleby who is 260

between 250-270m. very happy with that. i just need to hit more fairways. i use a mizuno mp-600. love it. i only actually take driver on 8 holes per round on average. i have a friend who drove a 320m par 4 and put it six feet from the hole and got the eagle. i was very jealous. two holes later he put it on the fringe on a 340m par 4. wind was pretty stong behind us on both holes but still. i am second longest in our group behind this machine. lol

It is a well known fact that the drives of those who post on golf forums are at least 270 metres. (without wind assistance)

When my Driver was working I was hitting 220-240, currently using my 5 wood and going 200-220 most of the time, the big difference is that i’m hitting about 70% fairways for the small loss of metres.

I drove non-stop from Adelaide to Melbourne in a 1961 VW Beetle when I was young. Now I’m lucky to go for two hours in an air-conditioned car without needing a cup of tea. :-) How far can I drive a golf ball? 210, maybe 230 if the planets are in alignment, the star signs are right, and the coronal mass ejections are high enough.

250 when straight. and thats pretty rare
|
|
I can get it to roll out to 250 reasonably regularly with the odd longer one, but 230 (finish) would probably be the average.
|
|
I get approx 205-215m carry and after that it depends on the fairway…hard and fast in summer (with a little wind behind me) this can go out to 270, whereas in winter it is between 206-216…

Off the tees 3-w: 170 to 200m.
If Tiger plays Lefty will he be that good ? |

I’m pretty average about all things golf, so I’m happy to see that my normal 220m drive is also about the average.
The key to success is to learn to do something right, then do it right every time. Oh I wish..... |

i read somewhere the average drive for male golfers is 210m which makes alot of sense. my dad can only hit his driver 180-200m. he still has a lower handicap than me. its funny he takes driver, 3wood and still can’t make the green on the three 400m par 4’s at our course. i take driver, then anything from a 7 iron to a 9 iron for my second shot and he’ll most likely beat me on the hole. distance is not everything. short game is where you score.

Average drive for me is about 245m, can get it out to about 260 if the planets align!! tdoddsy is right, its all about short game.

I normally carry 215-220ish, but it depends on a lot of things. :) Although now they are getting straighter and more reliable, thanks to David Leadbetter. ;)

I used to be able to tonk the ball 250m (carry and roll) on a good day, but there was so much variability from week to week that I have jettisoned the attempted long tonk smash in favour of a more controlled swing that averages 20 – 30m shorter, and 20 – 30m straighter. ATM a gentle fade. So about 220 – 230m now, although occasionally one will get some extra roll or bounce depending upon the slope and prevailing winds. Maybe after a while I can learn to combine consistency with length, but happy to put the ball in play more often than not.

i’m off 16 and hes off 12. i shot an 83 on saturday in the monthly medal in the rain and he shot 81 (still havent beaten him) . that was at merewether golf course in newcastle, nsw. i usually play out in roxby downs but i was on holidays and jumped at the chance to play a decent course. i used to be about 230-250m off the tee but after some lessons from Jason Laws at Newcastle golf club my distance has really increased. its good being such a long hitter, the other day i played with these 3 guys all over 60. after i hit my first drive the guy goes “where did that go” and his playing partner said “straight down the middle about 300m (it actually was 278m)” the other guy was like “sorry i can’t see that far”. it made me laugh. but the down side, as long as i am my short game kills me, there was a guy 85 years old and was off a 10 handicap. so i got beaten by an 85 year old by 1 shot. amazing

I admire you guys belting the ball 250m or more even with the newer clubs and technology, i think my longer / longest drives are in the order of 240 -245 m

yeah but here are my driving stats for saturday 6 Par 3’s – Hit 3 of 6 greens 8 Par 4’s 4 Par 5’s so all up i hit 5 of 12 fairway (42%) i would much rather be driving 220-230m and hit 75% of fairways.

I’m with Publish – I can drive for about 4 and a half hours before I need a piss.

Anywhere between 210-240. Dependant on contact and nature. I use a Ben Hogan driver.
Just trust it! |
|
Hows the Ben Hogan Driver, heard it’s a goof performer and pretty forgiving too, even though is only 420cc in vol i think ? if it’s right it may = it doesn’t mean a 460cc head is better ?

anywhere from 230 – 250. Average drive of about 240 i would say. but all of these figures are dependant on where you play, some courses are rock hard and the ball runs 80m, where some only roll 40m.
|
|
If I hit it straight (rarity) i get it to roll out a trickle past 265m. At my home course i rarely use more than a 9 iron after taking the driver on any par 4. Although it is a relatively short course.
|
|
on average i hit about 260 or 270, sometimes carry and then add around ten metres onto those distance, and sometimes i will hit a lower trajectory and it will roll out to 260-270, i can bomb and i do once or twice a round out to 290-310. but that means nothing without being able to get up and down from 30 metres more than 50% and having 34 putts like i did today.
