Golfing Holiday for two..

Hello fellow golfers..I am looking for suggestions for a golfing holiday for the wife and I.
Last time we headed up to Yepoon (Capricorn Resort) and loved it..We love playing early
morning then relaxing in the afternoon or sightseeing. The reason we liked Yepoon was the fact we had 2 courses at the resort, so no driving around.
We are in Adelaide. Flights aren’t an issue as I work for Quick and Nasty.
Looking to go Feb/March for 7-10 days. $$ are a little tight so exotic resorts are out :0(
Like the stay and play idea so doesn’t have to be lots of courses…
Any suggestions would be appreciated..

Hi Clubba,

Why not drive across the border & play the Murray courses? Very cheap with some great courses…....Yarrawonga is probably the pick.

Can you stay on course at Yarrrawonga ??
Or is accom close by ?

I think ‘The Vines’ have some decent deals , Guru will be able to fill you in more.

Clubba…...

I may be biased here mate but hop on a plane and fly to a destination where a cruise ships departs from and your golfing holiday will be out of this world for you and the wife.
Bali is a great place to have a golfing holiday as well.

You are kidding yourself if you think you can make it without hard-work.

Not sure I wanna go on a cruise at the same time.
I think that’s what u are suggesting?

We have done the Thailand, Bali thing… would probably go as far as
NZ…

Clubba, The best trip I could suggest is to take advantage of the winter deal at St Andrews.

Its probably a little far for you though!

Would love to Styles! but you are right…tad too far!

Yes you can, everything from basic cabins to spa suites etc. And the courses are pretty good also, it has 45 holes, tennis courts, swimming pool, bowling greens etc etc.

I second the recommendation for Yarrawonga. Great venue for golf, nice rooms if you’re lucky, average if you’re not, restaurant and bar facilities not too bad either.

Got to agree with the Indian and Bunny. Some great courses along there at reasonable value. Nearly all have resort style or decent motels nearby.

The key to success is to learn to do something right, then do it right every time. Oh I wish.....

Would Yarra be the stand out of them all?
I see Rich River has 2 coures as does Tocumwal…

Hi Clubba

Murray courses all pretty good & accom usually no probs…best ones in my humble opinion are : Murray Downs @ Swan Hill, Cobram/Barooga ( old course best) Tocumwal & Yarrawonga.
A few days in each or just set up camp at somewhere like Yarra or Cobram/Barooga & plenty of variety within 30-40 mins.
Did try Proserpine in QLD ( Turtle Beach think its called) but not much else there besides golf if you are a golfaholic, but lovely course & surroundings!
Its worth considering if cheap fares to Proserpine.

Vic, Are you referring to Turtle Point Golf Course (Laguna Quays) ?
yes, i can get cheap airfares :0)

Yep thats the one….great layout & comfortable accomm.
They provide transport from Proserpine & return.
Course is about 20-30mins away!
Look at their web-site for package deals etc.
Only drawbacks…..bit isolated & will be pretty humid when you plan to go, but otherwise we enjoyed it.
Any more questions dont hesitate to ask.
Cheers

How about Barnbougle Dunes in Tas ??

Stay in Townsville and play The Willows (hosts QLD Masters each year), Townsville (27 holes), Rowes Bay (new greenkeeper and course is in great condition) or the 9 holer on Magnetic Island. Green fees on each are way cheap (google their web sites) and you can easily get a game. 320 days of sunshine each year on average.

Looks like we might try Sunshine Coast…some good deals around
Coolum for accom. Fly into Bris and grab a car..
Any little hidden gems around to stay?

We stay at surf dance which is a budget place in coolum – $60 ish a night for a one beedroom – gives you more $$$$ to spend on beer and playing the hyatt and twin waters – also try mt coolum and headland at approx $35 a round are great value.

Don,t bother with this. just had a group come back from 2 days at laguna. very dissapointed place is nowhere near as good as it was 12 months ago

A bad day on the golf course is better than no golf at all. :(

No one who ever had a lesson would have a swing like mine

cheers for the heads up Pom..
We have almost pulled the trigger, looks like Noosaville..
The Offshore or the Verano near Gympie st…
But the weather at the moment is a little concern up that way..
Anybody know if February is ok weather wise ?

Weather is normally great there at this time of year. Used to spend a lot of time around there in my younger years.Plenty of good golf courses & heaps of other things to see or do. Hope you have a great holiday.

The weather has been ordinary, the chance of it continuing to much longer is pretty slim, the good news is the courses will be in sensational nick when you plan to come and the courses on the sunshine coast are great. Guaranteed to have a good time.

Yarrawonga has the best packages play and stay and is 45 holes at the one place

Paradise will be there myself in feb 08
