I played at Kooindah Waters about a month ago and on the 3rd tee the greens staff were out in force trying to get rid of a red belly black snake, It slithered right across the 3rd tee then off over to the 2nd green. They are out in force in the summer heat so be careful guys!

yep its why i dont look too hard in long wavy grass…

We had a tiger snake slither behind one of our playing group on the fairway last week where I play in Melbourne. Was only a little fella, but geez they are hard to see. The snakes are out in force this summer, we have had so many warm days already over 30 deg.

yeah but more kids get run over by thier parents backing out of driveways than we do by snakes…...

Keep your distance from the tigers, they dont mind chasing after you if you get too close. I walked past one a few weeks ago as it was having a fight with 2 magpies in the middle of the fairway.

We had a brown snake sunning itself in the middle of the 6th green one day.

As it was a non-comp round and being a par 3 we made a group decision and took 3 each and walked the long way round!

On the same topic, a few weeks back outside the pro-shop was a sign saying ‘Warning, snakes have been seen on course’, fair enough.

NOW the sign says ‘Danger, snakes on course’ .............. makes you keep your eyes open when ball searching I can tell you!

I had a close call in Albury last month too, I stepped into a deep grassy groove on the edge of the fairway and a 5-foot black-snake slithered past my leg and under a tree-trunk. I was playing Stableford rules with a big bunch of mates, and they gave me an extra 2 points on that hole for having the crap scared out of me.

I had a snake issue that put me in the hospital for a few days. While looking for a ball in some rough I stepped on a 4 foot bull snake which bit into my leg. The bite was not the issue since they are not posinous. While trying to get away from the critter, I stepped in a golfer hole and broke an ankle which required surgury to fix. No golf for 6 weeks.
