How to clean golf balls?

I have a bucket of dirty golf balls. Most of them are stained from being in the water for a while. There are a quite a few good ones in there but they’re filthy. I’ve scrubbed a couple of them up with a brush and a bit of Solvol and that seemed to work well. Surely there’s a better (easier) way to do it. Two questions:

|
To wash my practice balls i just put about 6 inches of hot water in a bucket then pour in a bit of washing powder and a small amount of bleach. Brings em up a treat in no time!

I wash my balls with soap and warm water.

Napisan if you must

Haha there is always one. :))

Much to my wife’s mortification I put them in the front loader washing machine with detergent and two or three towels and away they go. It can be a little noisy but is very effective. The more balls the better. The towels rub away any grime as well as muffling the noise.

wash and give em a scrub with a rag to remove the surface muck, then an overnight soak in Napisan.
Reverse every natural instinct you have and do just the opposite of what you are inclined to do and you will probably come very close to having a perfect golf swing. - BEN HOGAN, POWER GOLF |

Thanks for the suggestions! :) I thought bleach might deteriorate the golf ball, but I guess it doesn’t matter ‘cos they’ll only be used on holes where they’re most likely to get lost again!

If I could also lick my balls, I would too… The bucket I had were already at home. Takes bugger all time/effort to soak them in a bucket of bleach and dry them off. Works quite well for all but the most persistent stains.

Thats right brent, its much harder to see a muddy ball when practising. Takes f*k all effort to keep em clean and looking like new

Balls do lose distance after being submerged. Do a search.

Cool. Judging by the stains, it seems like the outer shell is semi-porous so I’m not at all surprised to hear that. Will check it out later.

If Peter Lonard can practise for hours with rocks on the range and not cry about a bit of dirt on a ball I don’t see the reason for ye girls 2 get the kleenex out…..

Cleaning up your balls for another round? Just use a brand new one of all things?
|
|
i loose them before that becomes a problem

There’s a difference. When you’re practising, generally there’s no great urge to find the ball. When you’re using them in a game, they’re clearly easier to find when they are nice and white. I’m a beginner who doesn’t intend to keep losing good balls on difficult holes.

haha isn’t that bad for your washing machine?
|
|
yeah probably just get an old one or use someone elses
|
|
yeah i could tell u were a beginner…..

Gotta start somewhere ;) I suppose you’re an expert?
